Two females in Jersey City were held up in Jersey City on Monday by a masked robber who pointed a silver handgun at them.
A Jersey City woman and a 16-year-old girl were robbed at gunpoint yesterday in separate incidents that took place just over an hour of each other.
Police believe the same person carried out both crimes.
At 4:30 p.m., the 25-year-old Rutgers Avenue woman was on Union Street near West Side Avenue when a masked man pointed a silver handgun at her and demanded money, reports said.
She handed over $40 and her ATM card. She gave up the PIN number for her ATM card after the robber told her she had five seconds to give him the code or he would shoot, reports said.
Then at 5:45 p.m., the Virginia Avenue girl was walking in the area of Virginia and Bergen avenues when a masked man showed her a silver handgun and demanded money.
The girl handed him $1 and he ran away heading east on Virginia, reports said.
Both victims described the robber as 6 feet tall, of medium build, wearing a black hoodie sweater, black mask, and dark blue jeans, reports said.
Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to call the Jersey City Police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.
