A 15-year-old Forrest Street boy was charged with assaulting a police officer after he and two others bailed out of stolen car that was being followed by an unmarked police car in Greenville Monday, Jersey City police said.
Plainclothes officers spotted the stolen Honda Accord at Ocean and Claremont avenues and followed it while waiting for backup. When the Honda stopped at a red light at Union Street and Ocean Avenue, the three people in the car jumped out and took off running, reports said.
The Forrest Street boy was cut off by arriving backup officers and he reversed direction, knocking down one of the plainclothes officers in pursuit, reports said. The boy fell in an alley and was caught. He was released into the custody of his guardian.
