One teen is in custody after a group of five thugs beat and robbed a 16-year-old Dickinson High School student outside his home Monday, Jersey City police reports said.
The student was robbed just before entering his apartment building at West Side Avenue near Sip Avenue, at 4:10 p.m., reports said.
One of the attackers grabbed his neck, pulled him to the ground, and began to pummel him with the help of his friends, reports said.
After rummaging through the victim's pockets, the gang ran away with his cell phone and wallet.
Police found a group on Emerson Street that matched the victim's description.
The victim was able to identify only one in the group, a 17-year-old from Dales Avenue in Jersey City, who was arrested and charged with robbery.
