Jersey City man charged with threatening ex-wife with stun gun
by Paul Koepp/The Jersey Journal Monday November 17, 2008, 1:45 PM
A Jersey City man armed with a stun gun was arrested early today and charged with domestic violence after allegedly threatening his ex-wife, reports said.
The victim let 28-year-old Daniel Valenzuela of Summit Avenue into her Central Avenue home just before 5 a.m., thinking they were going to talk, police said. They were recently divorced after five years of marriage, cops said.
Instead, Valenzuela pulled out the stun gun and activated its electrical charge twice, although the woman was not struck by it, reports said.
Valenzuela fled on foot, but cops caught up to him shortly afterwards sitting on a bench near a Pershing Field playground, with the stun gun lying in the grass in a case about 20 feet away, police said. He is also facing weapons charges, police said.
