Man stabs mom, attacks cops

A man police described as emotionally distressed stabbed his mother in their Jersey City home and then attacked cops with a baseball bat Thursday night, police reports said.

Darrell Laval Jr., 24, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault on a police officer, unlawful weapon possession and domestic violence, police said.

Officers arrived at the multi-family home on Wade Street at 9:20 p.m. and found Laval grappling with his mother in a bathtub, reports said. The cops took a kitchen knife with a 5-inch blade from Laval, but only after his mother suffered a punctured left shoulder and abrasions to the left side of her face, reports said.

Laval then turned on the officers, kicking and punching them, and then swung a baseball bat at them, reports said. Police said Laval yelled "Kill me, I want to die," before he was subdued.

His mother was treated for her injuries at the Jersey City Medical Center, according to the police report.
