Two banks hit in Downtown Jersey City

Police are investigating a bank robbery and an attempted bank robbery in Downtown Jersey City today.

The banks in question are at 125 Pavonia Ave. and at Exchange Place, said city spokesman Stan H. Eason.


Eason couldn't yet say which one was actually robbed and how much was taken.

Police are still on the scene and reports specifying an exact time and further details are not yet available, Eason said. The Federal Bureau of Investigation field office in Newark has been notified of the robbery, a man who answered the phone there said.
