Nab two boys, 15, in assault on third youth in Heights

Two boys were arrested in the Jersey City Heights Monday evening and one of them also assaulted the police officer who made the arrest, reports said.

At a little before 8, officers on patrol spotted a large group of boys running out of Washington Park at Central Avenue and North Street, where they assaulted a 15-year-old boy, reports said.

A 15-year-old Graham Street boy was charged with aggravated assault and a 15-year-old boy from Irving Street was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, reports said.

One of the officers saw the Irving Street boy hitting the victim and grabbed him, but the boy resisted, causing the officer to fall and injure his shoulder, reports said.

Another officer saw the Graham Street boy hitting the victim and caught him at the corner of Graham Street and Central Avenue, where he was arrested with the help of another officer, reports said.

The injured officer was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
