I believe that if you are trying to rob someone using a weapon, the victim should have a right of self-defense equal to the assailant.

A Jersey City man is facing a litany of charges after police said he attempted to rob a man on Palisade Avenue and beat him with a handgun last week. Wilfredo Rosa, 48, of Newark Avenue, is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, burglary, and weapons offenses stemming from an incident in which he allegedly tried robbing man in broad daylight.
