as one friend put it...

This is a city where the good people are forced to leave, while the cops allow the criminals to roam free...

By Ron Zeitlinger/The Jersey Journal

A 55-year-old woman standing on a Jersey City street with her grandchildren was robbed of a gold chain Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The Jersey City woman told police that she was at the corner of Forrest and Bergen avenues when a man described as being 18 to 20 years old rode up to her on a red BMX bicycle and snatched the chain from her neck at 2:25 p.m.

The victim said the assailant was 5-foot-5, with a medium build and he was wearing a black shirt and black pants, police said. The victim valued the chain at $400.

The robbery is similar to a reported robbery that occurred Monday, in which a man riding a bike pointed a handgun at a Jersey City man on First Street and grabbed a gold chain with a crucifix from his neck. In that robbery, the assailant took the crucifix and left the chain.
