Jersey City police say man stabbed in leg during daylight street attack by three men who never said a word

A 43-year-old New York man was stabbed in the right calf Monday when he tried to fight off three men who attacked him in Jersey City for no apparent reason, police reports said.

The victim told police he was walking in the area of Johnston Avenue and Grand Street at around 3:30 p.m. when three men who never said a word to him started striking him in the face with closed fists, reports said.

The victim said that when he started to kick his attackers in self-defense, one of the men pulled a knife and stabbed him, reports said. The suspects then fled on foot.

The New York man was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center and treated for the cut on his leg, reports said.
