View Larger Map U.S. marshals join manhunt for 19-year-old Jersey City murder suspect Published: Thursday, August 04, 2011, 9:31 PM By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal Resized Image Amir Randolph, 19, is charged with murdering Craig Sampson on July 11 in Jersey City. The U.S. marshals have now joined the hunt for a 19-year-old Jersey City man charged with fatally shooting a man on a Greenville street late on the night of July 11, officials said today. "It is possible he has left the jurisdiction," Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said of Amir Randolph, of Mallory Avenue, who was charged on Tuesday with murdering Craig Sampson, 44, of Newark. The victim was gunned down outside a grocery store at Ocean and Orient avenues and he stumbled into the store, where he collapsed, officials said. DeFazio said agents of the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Fugitive Task Force have joined the search for Randolph, who is considered a fugitive. The marshals became involved after county homicide detectives could not find Randolph after checking a number of locations in Jersey City where he was known to stay, the prosecutor said. DeFazio said the motive for the killing appears to be an earlier dispute on the street. After that, "Mr. Sampson was followed by a group of individuals, and we allege Mr. Randolph produced the handgun and shot Mr. Sampson in the back," DeFazio said. After collapsing in the store, Sampson was rushed to the Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just before midnight. Anyone with information on Randolph's whereabouts is asked to call the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office's Homicide Squad at (201) 795-1345.
