View Larger Map Bystander struck by random bullet gets mouth injury Published: Friday, July 08, 2011, 3:00 AM By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal A Jersey City man is lucky to be alive after being shot in the face when gunfire exploded in Greenville early yesterday morning, officials said. The 28-year-old Long Street man told police he was in the area of Rutgers and McAdoo avenues at 2:08 a.m. when shots rang out and people began scattering in the street, reports said. He said he got on the ground and tried to take cover but felt a bullet strike his lip, reports said. A friend drove the victim to the Jersey City Medical Center and officers responding there were told by doctors the man?s wound was not life threatening, reports said. Doctors stitched the victim?s lip and he was then released, reports said. The Long Street man told police he did not know who was shooting or where the shots were coming from, reports said.
