Jersey City cops say armed robber stole $1,900 from Congress Street bar

In a midday robbery, an armed robber made off with roughly $1,900 in cash yesterday from the Cork Screw bar on Congress Street near Webster Avenue in Jersey City, police reports said.
The bar manager said the robber entered the bar from a side door at about 12:30 p.m., pointed a silver handgun at him, and ordered him to open the bar?s safe and give him the money, reports said.

After the manager handed over the cash, which was in Valley National Bank money bags, the robber fled east on Congress Street toward Palisade Avenue, according to reports.
