View Larger Map Cops: Crash, then drunken driving charge Wednesday, May 11, 2011 By MICHAELANGELO CONTE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A Jersey City man was charged with drunken driving after his Nissan collided with a Porsche on a Downtown street Monday afternoon, officials said yesterday. Julien Y. Roche, 36, of River Drive South, was charged with driving while intoxicated after the 4:45 p.m. collision at Greene and Morgan streets, reports said. Police responded to the location after getting a call about the crash from an off-duty police officer and found the Nissan Murano with damage to its front, rear and sides, and the Porsche 911 with damage to the driver's side, reports said. When the officers spoke to Roche, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol and when they asked him if he had been drinking, he responded "two beers," reports said. He was arrested after failing a field sobriety test, reports said. A witness said the Porsche was pulling out of a garage and the "Murano had just come out of nowhere," reports said. Roche and his passenger refused medical attention, reports said, adding that the Porsche driver complained of neck pain and was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center. Roche was also issued summonses for reckless driving, failing to maintain a lane and failing to exhibit his insurance and registration cards, reports said.
