View Larger Map Jersey City woman hit by bullet fired through a door Monday, January 31, 2011 By BRETT WILSHE JOURNAL STAFF WRITER A Chester, Pa., man was charged Saturday morning with firing a bullet through the door of a residence that struck a woman inside, Jersey City police said. Called to a building on Fremont Street near Bright Street at about 6:30 a.m., police found a 36-year-old Jersey City woman sitting in the apartment building's hallway with a gunshot wound, reports said. The victim told police that Tariq Hassen Love, 31, had been hanging out with residents at the building. After a dispute broke out, Love left, but returned soon after and started pounding on the door to the building, reports said. When no one would let him inside, Love produced a silver pistol and fired a bullet through the door, striking the victim in the hip, police said. Police found and arrested Love in the parking lot next to the building, reports said. He was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and possessing a weapon in a prior crime, reports said. The victim was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center and was released Saturday afternoon.
