A 16-year-old Jersey City boy was arrested in the Heights yesterday afternoon on burglary charges after being held by a Bayonne man who told police the boy stole his iPod out of his car, reports said.
At 4:35 p.m. police responded to Sherman Avenue and South Street and took the boy from the custody of the 24-year-old victim who lives on Third Street in Bayonne, reports said.
The victim said he saw the boy open the passenger door of his vehicle and take the iPod and earphones from the dashboard before continuing to walk down the Sherman Avenue, reports said.
The Bayonne man and a witness stopped the boy, who then returned the iPod, and held him for police, reports said.
The boy was taken to the police department's Juvenile Bureau on Cator Avenue to be processed and he was then released into the custody of his mother, reports said.
