JERSEY CITY -- The powerful blizzard that pummeled New Jersey today, froze traffic and caused hundreds of motor vehicle accidents throughout the state, also may have saved a young girl?s life.
The heavy snowfall provided a soft landing spot for a 4-year-old Jersey City girl who fell out the rear window of a two-family home on Winfield Avenue late this afternoon, said city spokesman Stan Eason.
The child sustained non-life threatening injuries when she landed in a mound of snow in the backyard of the residence at approximately 5:45 p.m., according to Eason, and was taken to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment.
"The snow may have saved her life," Eason said. The child has not been identified.
Officers from the Jersey City Police Department remained at the scene last night, and Eason said police consider the girl?s plunge a suspicious incident.
Eason declined to say if the child?s parents or anyone else was inside the Winfield Avenue home when she fell from the window, citing the ongoing investigation.
