A Jersey City man was attacked by a group of seven men and was robbed at gunpoint near the intersection of Randolph and Claremont avenues Thursday night, police said.
The man told police his attackers stole his jacket, his Timberland boots, his cell phone and $20, but not before roughing him up.
The man said he was walking north on Randolph at about 10:30 p.m. when seven men walking south on the opposite side of the street crossed to his side. One man asked him for change of a $20 bill and when the victim said he didn't have change, the others beat him.
One of the attackers waved a small handgun in the man's face and then struck his head with the gun. The 21-year-old victim suffered a cut on his head and above his left eye, one of his teeth was knocked out and there was swelling on the right side of his face, police said.
