A homeless man living on the Palisades overlooking Hoboken was assaulted by a would-be robber who smashed a bottle over his head in Jersey City early yesterday, officials said.
The 44-year-old victim met with cops at Palisade Avenue and Bowers Street at 2:10 a.m. and told them he was on Holland Street when a man approached and asked him for money, reports said.
When he responded he had no money, the man smashed a bottle on his head, reports said.
There was no indication from the police report the homeless man was seriously injured.
The victim told police that before the assault he had been drinking in the Oasis Bar on Palisade Avenue and his attacker was also in the bar, reports said.
