A 22-year-old man was arrested in Jersey City early yesterday after his car crashed into three parked vehicles and he tried to leave the scene of the smashup, police said.
Antonio Lopez was arrested at 1:37 a.m. at Carteret and Arlington avenues and charged with driving while intoxicated and issued summonses for driving without a license, registration and proper insurance, police said.
He tried to drive away when cops arrived on the scene, police said.
Lopez, whose breath reeked of alcohol and slurred his words, confessed to cops he was in the country illegally, police said.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was notified and Lopez will be turned over to that agency.
Lopez, who was driving a green Acura with Alabama license plates, was treated at the Jersey City Medical Center for a cut on his left forehead.
