Report: Woman's body found in fire that injures several in Jersey City Heights

By The Jersey Journal
November 28, 2009

Fire broke out in the middle of the night on Hague Street in Jersey City. According to WCBS-TV News, a woman's body was found but it is believed her death wasn't caused by the blaze.A woman's body was found in a Hague Street building in the Jersey City Heights that caught fire early this morning, injuring several residents and leaving a number of people homeless, according to WCBS-TV News.

Fire Chief Mike O'Reilly told the TV station that the death appears unrelated to the fire but one of the fire victims is in very serious condition at the Jersey City Medical Center.

"They pulled people off the fire escapes, off the ladder and down through the main stairway,'' he told the station.

Firefighters rescued numerous residents of the four-story apartment building during the blaze that was called in at 1:45 a.m., he said.
