I wonder if the New York Times would have included the "Yo."

Cops find gun, bullets, clothes - no gunman

Jersey City cops responding to shots fired in Greenville Wednesday night found two men loitering as well as a gun, bullets and some discarded clothing - but no gunman or victim, officials said.

At 9:30 p.m., police responded to Orient Avenue near Morton Place and one of the men said, "Yo, somebody punched my sister in the face and we came around here to see what's up, but she already left," reports said. Police frisked the pair and let them go, reports said.

A search of the area turned up a discarded sweatshirt and baseball cap, as well as a live bullet, a loaded magazine, and a handgun hidden on top of the tire of a parked car, reports said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Jersey City Police Department tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.
