View Larger Map Apologetic gunman methodically robs Jersey City gas station Friday, October 09, 2009 A gunman apologized as he cleaned out the cash register of a Jersey City gas station Wednesday night, saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I need more money," reports said. Officers responded at 8:30 p.m. to the Gulf Station mini-mart on Grand Street and Johnston Avenue, where the clerk told them the man walked into the store unnoticed but then donned gloves and used a bandanna to cover his face. The man walked behind the counter and apologized as he took out a handgun, opened it and displayed the bullets to the clerk, reports said. The gunman held out a bag and the clerk put in about $300. The gunman also took numerous packs of cigarettes, scratch-off lottery tickets and a cell phone, reports said. The man fled west on Grand to State Street, where he got into a maroon mini-van with New York plates and tinted windows, reports said. MICHAELANGELO CONTE
