Jersey City teen shot by man on a bicycle, say police
by Michaelangelo Conte The Jersey Journal Monday September 14, 2009
An 18-year-old Jersey City man is in the hospital after being shot by an unidentified man on a bicycle yesterday, officials said.
At approximately 4 p.m., the suspect rode up to a crowd of teenagers and young men gathered at the corner of Warner Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and fired a round into the crowd, according to authorities.
The victim, a resident of Clerk Street, was shot in the shoulder and was driven to the Jersey City Medical Center by a friend, said Stan Eason, spokesman for Jersey City. The victim was discharged at 7 p.m. after being examined, treated and evaluated for a "fairly superficial wound," according to Mark Rabson, spokesman for the Jersey City Medical Center.
The suspect has yet to be apprehended and seemed to be in his late teens, early 20s.
