Cops: Woman cut man, his grandmother
Monday, June 29, 2009 By CHARLES HACK JOURNAL STAFF WRITER
A 22-year-old woman was charged with slashing a 71-year-old woman early Saturday morning after the victim tried to intervene in a fight between her grandson and the younger woman, reports said.
Ebony Wilson, 22, of Jersey City was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and weapons possession for allegedly cutting the older Dwight Street resident on her right hand and arm and the 23-year-old grandson in the face with a box cutter, reports said.
The grandmother told cops that her grandson, who lives with her, had gotten into an argument with Wilson over a cell phone at around midnight, reports said.
Wilson grabbed the grandson by his hair and slashed him on the left side of his face, the grandmother said, according to reports.
The grandmother then stepped in to try to break up the fight. Wilson slashed her twice, once on the hand and once on the arm, police said.
Both victims were treated at the scene by medics.
Shortly before speaking to the victims, police found the suspect, who fit the description provided by a 911 operator, standing on a sidewalk near the Dwight Street residence with a box cutter on the ground next to her, reports said.
On her way to the police station, Wilson told police they arrested the wrong person, reports said.
