Pays fare, robbed of $2G
Monday, May 04, 2009 A 48-year-old Jersey City man was robbed of $2,000 at gunpoint early yesterday morning after he paid the taxi fare for his girlfriend, police reports said. The victim told police that he had just paid the cab fare when two men in their late teens or early 20s walked up to him at Kearney and West Side avenues at around 1:48 a.m., reports said. The Woodlawn Avenue resident said that one of the men pushed a revolver against his ribs and said, "Give me everything you got," reports said. The victim handed over $2,000 from his pocket and the men fled north on West Side Avenue, reports said. The victim, owner of a furniture store on Kennedy Boulevard, told police the money represented everything he earned at the shop on Saturday, reports said. CHARLES HACK
