Saturday, April 04, 2009 By AMY SARA CLARK JOURNAL STAFF WRITER
Police charged a man with human trafficking and promoting prostitution after he drove a 20-year-old Baltimore woman to Jersey City and ordered her to pick up men on Tonnelle Avenue, according to a police report.
Officers saw the woman trying to wave down cars on Tonnelle Avenue at County Road at 2:50 a.m. yesterday, stopped her and asked her where she was going.
The woman, who appeared to be "cold and nervous," said she came from Baltimore to Jersey City to make some money, but wouldn't say how she would get paid, the report said.
The woman said a man, whom she seemed to fear, had driven her to the area and was waiting for her in a van at a nearby gas station. Police found the man, later identified as Keith E. Duzant, 48, of Woodbridge, Va., and arrested him, according to the report.
