Love the story, not loving the fact that the kids (minors) may have been exposed naming the dad...

Two Jersey City men were arrested Wednesday night after the children of one of the men told mommy that daddy had funny plants growing under lamps at his house and numerous bags containing white powder too, officials said.

Manuel "Manny" Acevedo, 35, and Elliot "El" Gonzalez, 43, both of Bayview Avenue, were arrested at 10:22 p.m. and charged with numerous drug counts, including possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute near a school and a park, officials said.

The 11-and 13-year-old boy and girl spent the weekend with their father, Gonzalez, and on Wednesday they told their mother they had seen numerous plants under lamps and that they smelled something funny, reports said.

Interviewed by police, the girl said she looked inside a dresser drawer and saw 10 bags containing white powder, reports said, adding that she also saw Gonzalez snorting something out of a little plastic bag.

When police went to the Bayview Avenue apartment, they found 51 bags of suspected cocaine, eight marijuana plants, $1,038 in cash, a scale, drug packaging paraphernalia, and equipment and chemicals for growing plants, reports said.

The mother said she would also call the state Division of Youth and Family Services to tell them what Gonzalez was up to, reports said.
