Greenville: Still hunting daughter sought in shooting

The Jersey City woman charged with shooting her father in the back this week remains on the loose and was already wanted by police at the time of the shooting, authorities said yesterday.

Doressa Archie, 46, of Fulton Avenue, is charged with aggravated assault and weapons offenses in the shooting of her father, Thomas Archie, 66, on Monday afternoon at the Fulton Avenue address, officials said.

Thomas Archie remains in stable condition at the Jersey City Medical Center, police said.

In September 2006, Doressa Archie was indicted on a drug possession charge and a warrant for her arrest was issued when she failed to show up for a pretrial hearing, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said. In 2005, she was sentenced to probation after being convicted of wandering to commit a drug offense, DeFazio said.

Jersey City police are hunting for a city woman who allegedly shot her father in the back in their Greenville home yesterday afternoon, officials said.

Police responding to the residence on Fulton and Ocean avenues were told by the 66-year-old man that he was walking down the basement stairs when his daughter shot him and that he didn't know why she did it, Police Lt. Edgar Martinez said. Neighbors said the man's name is Thomas Archie.

Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of the daughter, Doressa Archie, 46, on the charge of aggravated assault, Martinez said, adding that she was last seen running west on Fulton.

The victim was in stable condition last night at the Jersey City Medical Center, a hospital official said last night.
