Re: Film Tour of Jersey City 1929

I wish it was! If it were an advertisement, I'd be getting paid to do it.

I am just one man who produces a weekly vlog all on my own. I've been meaning to work on an episode where I'm able promote local businesses that I like but that also fit with with image of "I Say!". That's how this came about.

I've produced the majority of independent web series and tv pilots in Jersey City over the last ten years. I have been to each and everyone of the places I mentioned. Pat's Pig Butts was by far the best.

Hi everybody,

I've been posting a weekly series that takes place in Jersey City in 1929. I just posted an episode that is about JC, what were some places to eat then, and where are some places to eat now. Watch it and if you like the approach and style, share it. Otherwise let the criticizing commence!

Film Tour of Jersey City from 1929.

It's one of the smallest chis I've ever seen. Definitely don't like the dog. Definitely sounds like someone being murdered. Definitely needs to go. Worst dog in the world.

A friend of mine saw Healy at Brownstone diner last friday and he said healy looked terrible and serious. He also said that when he looked at healy, Healy gave off this body language as if saying "Don't look at me." Something must have been going on at the his meeting at the diner.

Healy doesn't have much time if he is involved, which seems very likely. Would the council appoint a mayor or would they have a new election? I think Steven Fulop would be a good candidate. I guess time will tell if he was at all involved as well. This is a great opportunity for a young honest politician.

I can break the reality, it's a joke. Of course it's a joke. Once you see it, you know it can't be real. A penis sculpture in Van Vorst Park? Fire Helicopters? A crazy racist sculptor? If you don't think the idea of a giant penis sculpture next to a kid's playground is funny than you don't think it's funny. But some people do. The premise is to make up stuff about Jersey City that's completely absurd. I think it did it's job, it's harmless. I understand your pride for the city because it is a great place to live but it's also funny how no one knows anything about the city outside of hudson county. We've all talked to people who know nothing about Jersey City, so here is more information to confuse them and have them become possibly curious about where we all live. It's to spite other people's ignorance about where we live. I'm making more so watch out.

'Losts Cities' is a travel show that explores lesser known cities in the United States. They shot in Jersey City recently and posted a clip on youtube. Check it out here, they focus on public sculptures in JC and interview a local artist:

It's going to compete with the crazy puerto rican makeshift bar that blasts music across at Columbus and Coles. I wouldn't want to see that place go. Where will I get my fill of crazy drunk people? Oh wait, it's Jersey City.

I got a tv show too, that I shot in Jersey City at my old apartment on Sussex St. HERE:

I was in the Jersey Journal last summer about the pilot. It has Kristen Schaal in it from Flight of the Choncords. Also, I'm in the works again on something Jersey City related. If anyone wants to help out on a shoot, you can contact me @ dbmcnamara@gmail.com

My girlfriend's car has been ticketed 3 times for not having a permit since last September and she has a permit. They won't do anything. We've gotten apologies in writing from them and the last time they ticketed her they did not place a boot on the car but you have to go to court no matter what. The court is a whole other total screw up. The parking authority should be sued for harassment and negligence.

Re: Lafayette Park Communipaw Neighborhood

Thanks for the great responses. I can see that Lafayette by the light rail is going to move in a better direction as long as the right people are involved in making the community better. I drove around and saw that like most jersey city neighborhoods outside of the path stations, certain streets are worse off than others but overall it's pretty decent.

I lived in Greenville for a year by the Afro American Museum and the apartment was great, neighborhood was pretty much fine. I lived in the heights by Pershing Park for a year, neighborhood was rough on certain streets.

But most neighborhoods outside of downtown have the same problem. Lack of good public transportation, not enough stores in walking distance. I'm still interested in moving, what are the better streets in Lafayette? Where are the problem spots? What exactly would help this neighborhood become a better place?

Lafayette Park Communipaw Neighborhood

Not too shy to talk

I've lived in jersey city for 5 years. The last 2 years I've lived in an apartment in Paulus Hook but the size is small. I know I can probably find a place by Grove or Hamilton Park but I hear I can get a large cheap apartment in the Lafayette/Communipaw area near the liberty state park light rail station.

I've driven in the neighborhood and it seems to me that the neighborhood is not exactly good and not exactly bad.

Does anyone have any experiences living there? Is crime bad? Car theft? There doesn't seem to be much in the neighborhood besides apartments, small delis and beautiful churches. Would it be wise to move there? I want to hear from people who know.

The tv pilot, Redeeming Rainbow, was shot completely in Jersey City. It's about two young men who sublet their third room to a talking rainbow from the sky. It's an official selection for best comedy pilot. Selections will be announced mid August. The screenings are from Sept 5th-10th. Come out and watch and support!

Also, Redeeming Rainbow was a finalist in Comedy Central's Test Pilots Competition. We find out Wednesday, Aug 8th if we won.

Best Jersey City Diners

I have to say my favorite Jersey City Diners are the White Manna and the Miss America Diner. They're classic. My least favorite diners are the Brownstone Diner and the Flamingo. The Flamingo is not the worst but it could be so much better. They're both lame!

What's your favorite JC diner and least favorite?

The Tunnel Diner is real weird but cool. Not sure about that one.
