any referrals?
Thanks.

Condo Association seeks trash/grounds maintenance service

We are looking for a service to keep the common areas clean, including the laundry room, vestibules, in front of our doors, and to mind the garbage pick up and recycling.

Don't know where to start -- 1) what kind of service are we looking for? (e.g., we do not want bill paying services, etc or total condo management), and 2) any referrals?

We are downtown. Thanks. Telley

Does anyone have a link to the trash & recycling schedule by zone? The JC gov't website is nothing but 404 errors.

Thanks

Where does one buy those stickers I see on smart owners' doors that prohibit dropping junk mail?

Thanks.

Re: SNOW REMOVAL PETITION

JC_DowntownRegular - There is a big difference between the contents being changed, and wordsmithing. Agreed worthsmithing makes a difference, but the premise and purpose would not change as your comment suggests.

For instance, the petition would not change from trying to effect snow removal to say, planting trees. All of the edits had one thing in common -- removing the limitedness of "downtown", which as you note (and has unfortunately become the 'theme' of a thread) offendeded some people. It is impossible to please everyone all of the time, although admittedly this was a bad typo.

So your points are well taken, however, I think blown out of context so as to over take the underpinning action, which was the petition that is now deleted.

Moot point because the petition is deleted, so we'll all have to find something new to criticize/talk about.

...too many variables for any opinion to be more than conjecture (less people, less dogs? it was emptied before the snow and VV wasn't, etc.), however, pretty sure that City sanitation workers handle the public trash cans ... and, they also plow the streets.

The sanitation workers who plow also pick up our trash. There has been no trash pick up since last Sunday anywhere around Van Vorst area. Residents' garbage is just piled in the street, buried under snow. Ten new garbage bags are piled on top of the new snow. We have a double layer of garbage literally all around the sidewalks and walkways.

Will there be trash pick up tonight? Anyone know?

No pick up on bright street last night or grand. When i walked my dog several times today, it was delightful to see the bags of garbage peeking out of the blackened snow banks, especially liked stepping over the queen sized mattress blocking the roadway back by gull's cove, and the box spring that was splattered a few feet from it. Our walk was capped off with a few blocks' worth of blue dye dribbled all over the barely peeking through sidewalk and i took a moment to breathe in the zen of garbage infused snow street hell that manifested itself. Yummy!

I call the general mayor's office number during business hours -- do not know of an info line... The mayor's office advised during the last snow storm that when it snows like this there is no trash pick up, and they resume the next available date where they left off ... i didn't put it out tonight, and usually it's picked up at 10 pm so i'll let you know shortly if they come but highly doubt it and no one on my block has their trash out.

Not only that but the glut of tourists in such a congested area makes it difficult to go about one's local business -- i find exactly this in Hoboken, which I lived in for 13 years so have a good basis of comparison of "before" and "after." Boo

Have eaten there probably two dozen times so far, and take out nearly every week. The food is very good, and it tastes authentic, at least to me. It's the basic Turkish menu for the most part, done very well. Spent about a month in Turkey years back, and this food comes the closest that I've tasted to authentic since then. The Shepherd's salad is excellent and the Kabobs and Gyros are very good. The food is very fresh, not high cal and the bread is perfect. This place used to be in Union City and has respawned here. It's a solid B+ and consistent.

Enjoy.
