Re: Blacktop be poured at the end of Jersey Ave.

I also commute to work on my bike through that area and am torn by the project. On one hand, yes, there are way too many crazed drivers speeding through on their way to work. On the other hand, I am always a little spooked by all of the brush and hiding places through the path. A well lit road would be nice during the times of the year when it gets darker earlier.

I am so sick of the friggin garbage that blows around in front of my house. I can pick it all up and then someone comes around the corner with a full bag of fast food wrappers or a bottle of pee and tosses it. I used to pick it up. Now I am just frustrated and annoyed.

HELP! Looking to rent Ground Floor Apartment
#63
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

Hi,

My fiance and I are looking for a ground floor apartment with some type of private outside space (terrace or small yard). I have met with a few brokers and have searched extensively on my own but haven't been able to find anything yet. If you own a ground floor apartment and are looking to rent it, or know of someone who is, please PM me.

Apartment must:

-Not have stairs (not two down or two up). A ledge or one step up to get into the building is fine.
-Be dog friendly. We have two well behaved dogs (one service dog and one pet)
-Not be run down.

We have lived in our beautiful apartment for 2 years but the neighborhood is just not right for us. We'd prefer Hamilton Park, Van Vorst or even Paulus Hook.

Thank you!

Definitely can be done on your own. I haven't used a broker yet and have been able to find an apartment with the same criteria several times. I've found that, unless you're set on a specific apartment, the broker fee really isn't worth it.

I ate there last night. The inside looks great. Food was good but a bit overpriced. I ate at the bar and the service was ok. It seemed like the bartender forgot about me several times in the 45 minutes I was there. Probably won't go back...

I have never seen such a dump in my life. I can handle the area but not an apartment full of empty beer cans, rotted food, dog hair everywhere, cat litter strewn on the floor, doors off the hinges and mold all over the bathroom.

If you are going to look at a rental on this block PM me. I don't want anyone else to go see this rathole and waste their time. Deadbeat landlords that obviously never fixed anything and pissed their old tenants off. This place is not even habitable-- and for $1550 a month the landlord is insane.

DCs is close and that's great. Other plus's are Shoprite, NYC view, and you're close to lightrail. Foodwise, there's lot of good mexican closeby and some good italian on Central. Many Hoboken restaurants will deliver along with Rasoi and other Newark Ave indian joints. This area of the Heights ain't Kansas but it's safer than where you're coming from and we've never had an issue. I had more safety issues living on Van Vorst park than I do here on Ogden.

Very helpful. I wouldn't mind being closer to DCs at all!

I'm not sure what you mean by that. My current neighborhood has 2 bodegas and a laundromat-- that's it. Nowhere to get takeout or grab a beer. Is this neighborhood the same?

How is this area?

I am lviewing an apartment tonight on this block. I currently live by LSP and am looking for a neighborhood that actually has places to eat/drink.

I don't live in a bubble and realize there is crime everywhere but I am afraid to walk 2 blocks away from my apartment (aka go across Pacific Ave) in my current neighborhood. Would like to be able to take my dogs for long walks again...

Thank you so much to those who organized this! I really enjoyed riding through JC and with a large group of people (which I had never done before). Yes, it was a little slow at times, but I had a great time!

I have been participating with Purple Dragon for the past month or so and am looking for someone to take my place. The food has been great thus far but I am finding that because I am away from home a lot, we don't have a chance to cook everything before it goes bad.

Pick up is every other Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 in downtown JC. $49 per pickup.

Please PM me if you are seriously interested.

Thanks!

I also agree. A normal bakery with normal prices would be great. I would swing by after work regularly.

Do not go to Dr. Milman on Grand Avenue. Dr. Milman told me that I needed four root canals in 2004. I was hesitant to have the procedures done as I had been going to regular checkups prior to moving to JC and hadn't been having any issues. I went to another dentist and did not have any cavities. You do the math.

It's important to remember that no matter how safe you think a neighborhood may be, you still live in a city. It's important to always look over your shoulder.

JC has so much to offer. It's a shame that fear comes along with the warmer weather. It's nice outside. You know what that means? More gunshots.

I know what a service dog is. I live with one. I am not interested in moving into this building but was generally curious about BSL and service dogs. I have tried to do internet research on this and didn't know if someone might actually have some knowledge on the subject.

I read about two different veterans in Colorado who had their service dogs taken away under BSL and wanted to know if NJ had any laws on the books concerning building/apt rules/BSL.

Has anyone been able to break their contract without death, dismemberment or moving far away? I am paying $80 a month that I can't afford anymore. When I signed up I was making a lot more money than I am now...

You have to hit Morris Pesin Dr for about a half mile to pick it up. The road is wide and it's basically just the entrance to the park so it's not too bad to ride/walk on.

Thanks! I'm gonna do this tonight :)

The nicest stretch is LSP with the new southern extention which is about 7 straight miles.

Where in LSP can I find the southern extension? Where does it end? Is it a path/walkway or do you have to go out onto streets?

Does anyone know how many linear miles are currently open? Where is the start/finish?
