And BTW, anyone know where I got my screenname from?

King pleads guilty to extortion

By MATT FRIEDMAN, PolitickerNJ.com Reporter

Former Jersey City council candidate Jimmy King, a veteran of the Hudson County political scene with a deep resume in government, pleaded guilty today to accepting bribes from a federal informant posing as a developer.

King, 67, took two $5,000 cash payments from FBI informant Solomon Dwek during his unsuccessful campaign for a Ward C council seat earlier this year and agreed to accept more money after the election. He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit extortion and is set to be sentenced on January 5.

?Although we are pleased with the outcome in the case against Mr. King, we cannot declare victory in our fight against public corruption,? said FBI Special Agent in Charge Weysan Dun. ?We continue to ask the public to contact us with information about corruption, no matter how insignificant one may think it is. We will treat every lead with confidentiality and urgency.?

Until his arrest in July, King ran the Jimmy King Civic Association. He is a former Hudson County undersheriff, Hudson County Director for Public Resources, Executive Director of the Jersey City Parking Authority and Chairman of the Jersey City Incinerator Authority.

According to the criminal complaint against King, Dwek mentioned an application for a fictitious Garfield Avenue development project he planned.

?I don?t care what it is. It?s done,? King told him. ?[n]ame it. Done.?

King has agreed to pay $7,500 in restitution. He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

King made headlines between the May municipal election and the July corruption bust for challenging the residency of the election?s winning candidate, Nidia Lopez. Although his name still appears on the latest court documents, King has passed that case on to good government activist Norrice Raymaker, who finished behind him in the race.

It seems that there's more evidence than just the child's word in this case.

But most accusations of such are false. Certainly from a statistical standpoint it does not make sense to believe the child first.

It is also not exactly compatible with our innocent-until-proven-guilty system.

Children learn at some age that they have absolute power over adults if they make certain accusations. And while this case doesn't seem anything like that, certainly "your initial thought should be to believe the child" is a thinking process that will ruin a lot of innocent lives and protect no children.

Problem with your train of thought is, that most pedaphiles
will take advantage of what you bring to light, that is that the child may be making the story up and in some cases thats true, but how many cases go un-reported and the pedaphile allowed to continue abusing children.

Problem with your theory is that your thought process tend to lock up an innocent people, which is the worst possible scenario.

Thats not the case here and lets not all stray from the story becuase someone on this post decided to get on their soapbox.

Guess what if it looks like a skunk and it stinks like one, well I don't have to finish that for you.

Problem with most of these blogs is how a topic is used to highight another on a totally different subject matter.

Yes, do innocent people go to jail, thats not the issue and once more we don't live in the middle ages and theres no perfect system where ever you go, but to assume that every child that makes an accusation is not truthfull is indeed putting everyone the victum in jearpordy.Once more you should look at it with an open mind and not like someone who loves to incite.

This guy is a lowlife corrupt politico who needs to be put away with the rest of the D-Bags implicated in this case.

Lets all get something straight here, and that is, these are all self centered people who could care less about JC and the good people who drag their ass out of bed everyday so that they can pay the taxes that line all the D-Bags pockets.

They are motivated by Greed and the illussion of power, nothing more, nothing less.

It amazes me that the drunken slob who runs this city is still in office, but lets leave that discussion for later.

SLY PATH COP CANS 'MUGGERS'

By PHILIP MESSING

LOCKED IN: A Port Authority officer trapped an alleged gang in the PATH train until more police could arrive.

He outfoxed a wolfpack.

A quick-thinking Port Authority cop corralled a crew of gang-bangers who mugged a passenger on the PATH train -- simply by locking the doors on their subway car until backup arrived, sources said.

The thugs were so furious, they allegedly threatened to kill the officer.

The events unfolded about 6 a.m. Friday, when Officer John Roche responded to a passenger alert on the PATH train as it neared the Grove Street station in Jersey City.

Shine-Amon Sky, 37, of Manhattan, said he was on his way to work when he fell asleep and was beaten up by a group of thugs.

They had stolen his cigarettes while he dozed. When he awoke and demanded them back, they threw him to the ground and stole his cellphone, the sources said.

Sky led Roche through the train until they found the alleged attackers, who had all congregated into one car.

Seeing he was outnumbered, Roche radioed the conductor and told him to lock the car's doors while he called for backup, the sources said.

The conductor then held the train between stations until backup officers arrived at the Grove Street stop. When the train pulled in, the alleged gang members were all easily arrested.

Five adults were arrested: Ronald Lumpkin, 21, of Montclair and Deyshown DeSmith, 19, Marcus Terry, 19, Jovan Brown, 21, and Hassan Bates, 21, all of Newark. They were charged with robbery, assault, riot and disorderly conduct, and recruitment of a street gang, cops said.

Four juveniles -- three girls and a boy -- were charged with robbery, assault, riot and disorderly conduct, according to cops.

Two of the juvenile girls were also hit with another charge -- making terrorist threats -- when they vowed to cops that they would kill Roche for catching them.

"The Port Authority Police Department is aware of this threat and taking it seriously," a source said.

The assailants all allegedly have gang affiliations, cops said, including the Bevin Street Bloods and the 464 PIRU, named after Piru Street in Compton, Calif.

Most large citys hire their police chiefs through a state or national search and not based on political patronage as is the case in JC.

I'm sorry to say, but things are not going to change as long as the status quo is allowed to continue and you can expect to see more of this garbage allowed to exist in JC!
