It's going to take a few weeks for the grass in Liberty State Park to grow from all the mud and dead grass. I spent Tuesday until Friday helping get one of the art pieces setup and today was spent taking one of the stages apart. Mud is everywhere, at least it is drying up.

No left turn onto 14th street from Marin?

Just can't stay away

I was driving my once-a-week route towards essex county and was surprised to see that the left turn lane on Marin Blvd was blocked by cones. I made a quick (but illegal?) decision to turn into the gas station slowly drive around the pumps and then merge onto 14th street.

Now I have seen that at times Port Authority closes the southbound travel lanes on Marin Blvd at 14th street but I have never encountered this. Did anyone else see this at around 10am?

Wild Fusion has a vegetarian General Tso's Chicken, Vegetarian Duck, Vegetarian Chicken, and Vegetarian Sesame Chicken.

"More" has a vegetarian Duck option that can be added to many dishes.

I do recommend the veggie burger at O'Connell's.

FROM ABC-7 Garbage truck hits light rail train in NJ.

NEW JERSEY (WABC) -- A NJ Transit light rail collided with a garbage truck in Hoboken this morning.

Newscopter-7 was live over the scene.

The garbage truck reportedly collided with the light rail, on the Hudson-Bergen line, just before 6:30 a.m.

The truck apparently ran a red light and struck the train at New York Avenue.

Eyewitness News is told the driver of the garbage truck, operated by Jersey City, was treated for injuries.

Some 40 passengers were on the light rail at the time of the collision. Most were transferred to another train for the rest of their commute.

The Hudson-Bergen Light Rail train was headed from Bayonne to North Bergen.

There were slight delays and the line was back on schedule by 7:20 a.m.

A detailed description of Zeppelin Hall...

The place is separated into two rooms each having their own bar and each having access to the outside area. Three security guards were outside carding people as they walked in. The first room (west) has two tvs and I think a fireplace, the second room (east) has s small covered stage (against the east wall) and a projection screen (against the north wall). Both rooms are lit by white pinspots with some highlights of color.

The line for food was long at times but it helps if you get your beer first and then wait in line for food. You basically line up at a large "kitchen" window which opens outside. I agree that the kitchen might have been built too small for the space.

In the outdoor garden there is an outside bar covered by a tent, it did not seem that it was open yet. Also the flights of beer was not available yet, only mugs and pitchers.

Quote:

It would be helpful if we didn't have to manually activate the pedestrian crosswalk signs at many corners. If the sign says "Don't Walk" even though traffic is stopped in your favor, most drivers think they have the right to turn in front of you.

Instead it should read "Walk at your own risk"

Any volunteer information yet. Was there a perk last year that if you volunteered on one day you get a free ticket for the next?

If the city thinks that traffic lights are too expensive for these streets, perhaps they should look at this.

Around 10:35pm on March 8th, Teddy entered the front car (808) while the train was in the Hoboken station heading toards JSQ. I heard Teddy say "good evening ladies and gentlemen" but he did not continue his speach, he just started walking towards the back of the train. A minute later, a passenger got up, started a verbal argument with Teddy (telling everyone to google 'path train teddy', and learn how he steals from path riders with his box cutter, or something like that)

This passenger then pressed the passenger alert button (for anyone who has not seen this done, all this does is causes two of the indicator lights on the front and back of the car to blink, it probably causes the outside indicator lights to blink as well, but i did not check). This passenger then exited the path car and got the conductor to come to the back of the train. The conductor then made an inaudible message on her 2-way radio, reset the passenger alert and then went to the front of the train to continue the journey to JSQ.

When I exited the train at Grove street I believe that both Teddy and the passenger exited as well. While I exited the eastern exit, both of them exited the Duane Reade side and I was able to hear the verbal argument continue.

I have a few questions for the list...
Did you witness Sunday Night's event?
Have you encountered any resistance to Teddy's begging?
What would you have done if you were this angered passenger?

From the current Downtown development map it looks like that site will house 76 apartments, 3,900 sq ft of retail and will have 50 parking spaces. 209-217 Newark Avenue

I took the rail only option back in January. (Path to Newark Penn, NJ transit to EWR, Airtrain to Terminals) and my take on it is that if you are traveling with one person this option makes sense. Getting back to JC was a little annoying because I had to wait at the EWR transit stop for 40 min until the next train arrived. (It was late evening, 10ish I believe)

However when I went to EWR in March with a friend we decided to take a taxi, fares range from $28 to $35 each way. However, I do not recommend using the yellow cabs that you get at the airport because they cost around $50.

The newly renovated apartment that I just moved into two months ago has the connected kind as well. There are two problems with mine: 1) They are so sensitive that I have to turn them off by the circuit breaker every time I cook and 2) they don't have a battery backup so I installed a normal $15 one. Does four smoke alarms sound a little excessive for a 440 sq/ft apartment?

Some wired ones have battery backups so the beeping is letting you know that the batteries are dying and need replacing.

I saw the path alert in my inbox this morning regarding the 3:30 am situation. It sounds like either another train in front of yours was preventing your train from moving or the overcrowding of your train caused the delay prompting the path alert.

Luckily I escaped on the NJ bound 33rd train that departed at 10:52 (I went through the gates just as the blinking departing light turned steady and had to shove the already closing door open to jump on)

The specific location of the water main break is the westbound side of 18th street, between the back of Target and the light rail tracks. As of 3:30pm Target remains closed but Staples is open.

The gate is on the side of the mezzanine with the AED machine at grove street .

And yes it would be nice to know (before you went through the turnstiles) when the next train would be.

Don't quote me on this but I thought i saw a gate in the mezzanine area. I will look again tonight.

Does anyone know a feasible location for the elevator at Grove Street?

ALSO... I am sure that people would love it if first all PATHVISION displays worked, and 2nd if they would continuously display when the next train is (or a countdown to the next train)

PATH, Thanks for taunting us with the new PATH cars this morning. You thought no one saw you when you pulled into the Grove street path station heading west with printed out signs that say "Test train" affixed all over you. Hopefully we won't have to wait until December 31st to enjoy your modern features.
