Sam, you are way too positive to stay on this forum. The information you post is creating too many cognitive dissonances in the mind of some people here. Please go away.

For the lamp posts, H for Hoboken or Hamilton who cares ?
Actually it is nice to see consistency of style across towns.

The lamp posts look very similar to the "new old" ones in Paris, it's really nice. I am also really pleased in the way they put greenery around the dog runs and tennis courts. It neutralizes the view of the fences, and should act as a sound buffer somewhat. Starting to look exciting !

Good point, let's start complaining again. Many settlers of lesser around here, many people who don't care as much as ME ME ME !

Seriously, I remember I had horrible doubt on my house project until the very end. The final details really brought things together. So can the final landscaping in my opinion. On another positive positive thinking note, the fountain is small indeed, but so that no one can bathe in it, some people obviously considered jersey city life under all angles !

I like this conservatory idea !

The boxing and fitness gym on division doesn't have BS member fee. Some gyms call it "initiation" fee. Just let them know that you know all about the machines and free weights and that you do not need to be "initiated". If they reply that initiation relates to "getting you name in the system", you can comment that a webcam and a few clicks are not worth that much money.

These so-called baptists are actually a bunch of lawyers. Everywhere they go they hope that someone will do something against them. Then they can file a lawsuit to make money. They know that the best way to get people to react is to make the most outrageous statements. If people don't react or treat them as lawyers they lose.

Their modus vivendi is starting to be known.

Let me remind people here... In Europe the triplay for 30-40 euros/month is common. It all happened because they broke the communication giants monopoly. Personally I felt taken advantage paying more than $50/month. I am very happy now with roku , skype and google voice. Comcast internet is still good for me but I keep my options open. But just for this.

Yvonne I tend to agree with your suggestion but before this step, it is pretty clear that there are too many municipalities around the state. I might be missing something here but can someone honestly tell me why people still want this ? Because of habits, or just because they want local control ? Because in the current distribution, we end up losing it in the hands of crooks !

Less municipalities with less people being paid a reasonable full salary just for one activity, this job, that would prevent people from looking around, and offer less people to audit. Then you can have a state-wide format for reporting on the web for each remaining city, something searchable... Am I just dreaming here ?

Personally and related, I would just be happy with ONE school board for the entire state. In the meantime, ENOUGH with the MAFIA tax.

I agree for the sidewalk, it looks very amateurish in comparison to other water front locations. The new hamillton park sidewalks look great by comparison - silverstein and associates if I recall, they were not forced to make it look nice.

So.., who selected who for Newark, isn't there a deviation from expectations... ?

I am not so lucky that I have time off for attending this council, which I regret a lot. A friend of mine will do so tough. I will reserve my judgement on Healy but for the others, it looks like forced resignation should and will happen. Gosh, this 11% property tax increase we (nearly) all just got, we could get it back very quickly through similar cleaning at all levels !!

For those with smartphones, please remember your recording functions, if you don't do it for you, please do it for us !

I agree it could not be a more perfect time for Steve to reintroduce his ordinance on pay-to-play. Maybe with the additional provisio that elected officials understand that their assets will become property of city coffers if they are found guilty of corruption charges.

Go Steve, I find myself reasserted for voting for Dan.

Regarding the path schedule, for those lucky with smarphones, there is the iTrans Path app on iphone to anticipate the next train wherever you are.

Regarding the flat screens, prices have dropped quite a lot recently, so I don't think it is a big expense. It's the provider loss if the adds can not capture the operating budget. I remember they did a similar experiment in Paris stations decade ago, they removed them after a while when people stopped looking at them. It can happen if people have to wait for useful information like in the current system. It's a fine line..

What is outrageous are the wage increases and the abatments, especially the last one, since people in buildings with abatment won't see an increase like everyone else.

How feasible is a citizen inspired lawsuit against the city for the abatments ? It looks increasingly like a class of people defining their own territory with its own tax code at the expense of the rest of the population. Doesn't it smell like unfair treatment under the law ? Isn't there some legal protection at the state level that addresses abuses and/or provides remedies ?

A colleague of mine at work who purchased at Canco lofts told me that all of the 1-br units have been sold. I also observed a few lighted units at the new building on Hamilton Park last WE with some friends.

Sure the market is slow but evidence suggests funding can still be found when deals or location are there.

The brochure for Steven Fulop's campaign states a list of downtown public renovation projects that have received funding because of his efforts. This includes Funding for the HP renovation project.

Steve, would your mind letting us know where are things right now for the park renovation in terms of commitment from the city and developer ? And do you have a time line? Jen, you might comment on this too. Thanks.

I just did mine to be sure I get something back, might not be the case in 2 weeks... This year I paid $30 extra to talk to a Turbotax consultant to confirm something, it was worth it.

If you do that, I would recommend you write your question(s) in advance and as detailed as possible, it will clarify your mind and help speed the process. They also email you the recap of the conversation including know-hows.

I lived in the landmark building for 1-1/2 years on a top floor unit. Roof leaks were prevalent during Nor' esters, and I was lucky there were not as bad as my neighbors. That's the reason I left otherwise it was pleasant.

I would advise to look at the quality of the building unit. Some like the office building are way better than others.

One of the best summary of the constitutional scenarios I have seen. It makes me wonder what would be the situation here if the state supreme court turned civil unions into marriages ? Super or simple majority for a constitutional amendment against it and what are the odds here ?

If some basic civil rights can not be conferred to a category of people other than through a civil union, what about making sure everyone has it but ooops, this is the only legally binding document for everybody. How does it feel ? ;-0

Sorry to intervene regarding regular voting, but if you are registered, can you just show at your polling station with an ID such as passport/driving license ?

I don't have any voter registration proof other than the confirmation from NJ over the phone that I am registered.

No mail received for the elections.
Advise welcome, don't want to miss this one...

Re: Parking in Hoboken

It is "in other words" indeed. Just follow what regular said: ONLY the side with green letter on a white background, NOT the other way around.

I used to live in Hoboken where parking is a major a## on top of showdy construction - like "luxury condos" without ANY soundproofing ! Here I am not sure we are faring much better but at least we have a few extra years for traffic. JC also has many more/larger entry/exit points compared to Hoboken, a significant difference imho.

Re: Living in Hamilton Park

You forgot the Embankment for restaurants, and also La Rustique which is close by. The list will probably increase with the completion of the building on the east side of the park.

As for safety I agree it is pretty safe and merry around the Park, just make sure to turn off your hearphones if you come back at 3 AM in the morning.... - like everywhere else.

As for directions, I would recommend Grove Street as an exit, faster to exit and faster walk... except in the winter where other warm considerations might take priority. Except also if you are taking the light rail.
