I dont get why people hate Empty Sky. I like it.

I've heard "it blocks the views." Where are you that it's blocking your view where you can't just walk around it?

Must eat places in the heights?
Home away from home
Home away from home

I'm looking for some recommendations for places in the heights (well actually any neighborhood other than DTJC). I went to a couple Italian specialty stores/delis years ago but didn't make it a habit of getting up there but I'd like to.

Pizza
Burgers
Sandwiches
Italian
mom&pops
specialty markets
Greek
and I'd really like to find a Chicago style Taqueria now that Taqueria will be closed for a while.

thanks

I thought there was a thread here somewhere but couldn't find it.

Great, I'm glad this isn't another "red sauce" on everything joint. I gotta get my ass in there.

Anyone been here yet? BYO?
I peeked in last night and it does look inviting. I didn't see a takeaway menu. Seems like it could be a nice addition if they offer something more than red sauce and carbs that I can get a pizza joint.
Good luck to you guys. A local place where I can get fried artichokes and stuffed fried olives would be amazing.

Interesting post from Yelp. Didn't they just open two days ago?

"Real authentic Italian food and dessert! I've been here several times in the first week. The food, service, atmosphere, and prices are terrific. Real attention to detail. A welcome addition to the lackluster food scene of Jersey City. The quality here should earn them a loyal following!"

unreal indeed. If they only had rules like they do at Taqueria (order here, stand here, dont sit) you would have known!

Well, you see, it's because they don't want to pay anyone to empty the trashcans that should be down there so we all have no choice but to throw our trash on the tracks.

To be fair, Decarlos' focus is bespoke tailoring. I consider it a favor when he takes smaller jobs.
That said, be sure to be flexible with your time frame.

Decarlos is the absolute best in town but that comes with a price.
If you want fast and cheap go to Danny on Grove, next to Ibbys. I use him for simple jobs such as hems or to shorten sleeves. One thing I've noticed about him over the years is he tends to err on the long side of the jobs, so if you really want "no break" or want to show some cuff, make sure you are explicit in your instructions. To his defense, I don't blame him for giving himself a cushion lest someone say something is too short.

I think that dirt roads in Somalia would put this poor excuse for a street to shame--at least they didn't require taxpayer funding. I've always wondered if the road was purposely left in its decrepit state in an veiled attempt to separate DTJC from JSQ... Just head a few blocks west and it's almost as if you've finally left this showcase of a Third World facade behind.

Maybe it's not about being tough or aggressive; maybe it?s about the self-respect and courage and to stand up for yourself and others.

And ?civility? includes being self-aware and mature enough to recognize and apologize for doing wrong, even if a total stranger calls us out for our behavior, but it?s pathetically obvious that ?I?m sorry? is an increasingly rare expression in our self-absorbed culture of audacity.

If you read this article a lot of information is missing and what little info their is comes from only one side. To me it seems like the "victim" had it coming. I could be wrong but this seems like one of those many JJ stories that is written to make the "victim" seem like he did nothing wrong.

Actually, I can mouth off all I want cause I'm protected by first amendment rights. I can actually go around and say all sorts of things (as long as it's non threatening) but the moment you lay a hand on me or on my property, YOU break the law.

I wished that family had a gun so the city would be without one less miscreant.

The man told cops he tried to warn the boy and his wife, but apparently the boy misheard him and jumped off his bike and approached the couple.

I'm not saying the kid was right but I'd bet that it was more than a kind warning. My guess is the dude had it coming and ran inside to hide.

That's TAKING from those who ACTUALLY WORK their asses off, to give to those who don't give a SHITE.

That's un-American. And that is the crux of this election.

Take it from those who have worked and actually BUILT something, and give it to those who feel they are ENTITLED to MY money.

Class warfare, if you ask me.

Just getting the word out.
Wasn't my bike but that of a neighbors so I'm not sure what kind of lock they had. I use a kyrptonite evo mini. I lock to a wrought iron fence. I've been lucky so far. Yes, to lock outside long term is foolish. It's a matter of convience for me. I felt that with a good lock and "security" I was safe. I do typically carry my 30lb bike up three flights.

As for the car, it was about 10 years ago. That night appx 14 cars were broken into in the lot by Ferris. Getting into those lots are easy. All you have to do is wait for someone to drive out and then walk right in. Put a piece of paper in front of the laser and the gate stays open.

Bikes that are locked outside are being targeted. Forget about being "gated" - bikes are stolen. The cameras do not help you recover a lost bike. Police do not care. Dixon does not care. There is no recourse.

I've had a car stolen from "secure" dixon mills lots...twice. Hear my warning. I thought it was better until the past few nights. Now I've brought my bikes that are in my "gated community inside"/ I won't be fooled again.
