I went to this place the other day for lunch expecting to find something like an Irish pub. Boy, was I pleassantly surprised. Both the decor and the food were good!

Too bad they're not adding the articulated trains like in Paris.

I think they should build a tunnel but also find a way to integrate passenger service into such a scheme.

For example, if the PA was truly forward thinking - they could build a tunnel that would provide express passenger train service from newark and jfk airports into lower manhattan.

It is a shame that the people of Jersey City elect such lame officials, who in my opinion see their job as serving the devleopers.

Of course evertone is looking out for their interests, including the guy that owns the Butler building and the Newmark guy...and I do think Healy is a crooked creep. Why doesn't Toll just move the tower to the Marin Blvd site of the property and make their proposed tower less intrusive.

There should be major fines if there are supposed to be standpipes on each floor as it is built. Aren't city inspectors supposed to make sure that contractors follow rules?

Whoever thinks more recreational programs are going to solve the problem is living in fantasy island. gang violence is not stemming from a lack of parks or sports places or afterschool activities, i think it developes because of bad parenting and a lack of tough penalties.

Just because one is poor or comes from the "inner city" does not mean one joins a gang!

I think ML is just trying to get as sweet a deal as they can from Bloomberg. Although I guess the company does have significant ops in Princeton that it could move to JC and consolidate/rationalize some operations.

I think it's an excellent idea to have the national guard do surveillance and shooting of the criminals if necessary. Hwoever, I would prefer that the criminals are locked away for 10-20 years.

I think a footbridge over the Hudson would be a fantastic idea and a great way to reduce crowding on the PATH trains. Why can't they have a giant footbridge linking a pier from each side jetting out into the Hudson.

Xerxes -
You have to understand that many citiznes of Jersey City are from the backlands where they do everything by cara nd the car is the center of their universe. They can't understand that having a footbridge across the canal (or even two) would make JC a lot nicer place for those without cars or for those who simply like to walk and bike.

It was probably people like that who were complaining about the Hudson River Park in Manhattan (spectacular) and the light rail (can someone say "crowded"?).

Hudson Square
Home away from home
Home away from home

I was looking at the website for the developers of the Metropolitan and I see that they are planning something called Hudson Square which I think is great but I haven't heard anything about. Will there be a park? Or just a sh_tty little town square like at Newport?

Now, I can also understand why someone would have paid $500,000 for those what-I-consider jazzed-up trailer homes on Marin? Where will the Shop Rite go? I'm hoping away and that it will be replaced by an upscale market.

And the liberals say it is not their fault (the teens), it's society's fault, their parents....locking them up for 10 years is too harsh...it will ruin their life.

I say how about the lives of innocent people that these creeps are ruining. Lock those little bastards up. PERIOD!

I think people should call the Mayor's action bureau (212-547-4900) to complain as well as the bus company directly.

Re: WALK HOME IN FEAR

Absolutely incredible that a bus company would simply change its routing without public input. Just shows how lacking this city is in leadership!

I agree that Central Avenue should have bus service (if its viable), but I'm not sure that it is and inconevneincing people along Palisade Avenue is not going to make it more viable. In fact, thiese large buses will probably worsen the traffic situation on Central Avenue.

Will there now be more gypsy vans going Palisade Avenue to New York?

Send them to a juvenile detention center. The sad thing is that the parents probably don't care. Otherwise, they their chiledren would not be out so late.

I agree prices are cheap for condos, but I wouldn't look for them to plummet...at least not in the better parts of JC or Hoboken or NYC. Look at London, the market had a brief dip but came roaring back - that's an alpha city for you.

I too am excited that these new towers are being built; I had though that this project died out after 9/11.

As far as PATH cars, why don't they have 1-elongated car that they do in Paris or like the extra-long buses in NYC. These are a lot more spacious.

Perhaps the poor should get better educated so that they can get better jobs so that they can afford better housing.

By not buikding more projects/tenements, perhaps society is giving these people motivation to either find better paying jobs or move to more affordablle places.

Yes, financial crimes are bad too but at least I don't have to worry about ending up in the hospital or morgue as a result of them.
