only because the lakers failed to make it to the finals in 86. That Celtics team is still the greatest basketball team in our life time.

Re: Pedestrian down at Marin and Montgomery

Downtown Jersey City is a nightmare for pedestrians. I know we need to balance the needs of people trying to get to the water front for work, but it seems as if everytime I cross Grand St, Marin, Montgomery or CC I am taking my life in my own hands.

When I used to live in another state pedestrians had the right of way when they were in the cross walk. This was strictly enforced in my town and people who broke it were ticketed. THere was also a public service campaign with signs and commercials to make drivers aware of the law. At every cross walk there was a caution sign for drivers reminding them that the pedestrians had the right of way. It actually helped make drivers pay attention to the people in the cross walks. Walkers were viewed as people with rights instead of simple annoyances or targets.

Is there a similar law in NJ?

With regards to Richardson just seems like different name same story. Too bad, he seemed like a bright guy who would be an indepenent voice.

Are there any other bars downtown that have a similar "grandfather clause" to Abbey's and still allow smoking?

Ogden1 - You are kidding right? I must have seen 30 people I know personally from downtown who were wearing Fulop t-shirts/volunteering and passing out literature. In some spots there were a few folks simply holding signs, but based on what I saw yesterday, it seemed as if Fulop did a nice job of getting the community involved with his campaign.

I dont see anything wrong with the Fulop campaign answering charges with facts. I always complain when campaigns resort to negative tactics and it was good to see a campaign present a logical and factual rebuttal to questions that were raised. Who cares who sent what email to whom. The campaign obviously thought it would further their case by addressing the questions raised.

It also shed more light on a couple of specific issues. For example I wasnt sure what Fulop's position was on the Embankement (per questions raised in earlier in this forum) and now based on the information in the link above it seems he is solidly in favor of preserving it. I had made up my mind to vote for Fulop, but the additional information was actually very helpful.

I dont seem crime being an issue at this location. I have been up there often and never had any problems.

Wow this place certainly has sparked some passion! The food was good, but I have to side with the people who dislike the service in the establishment. My wife was slow to order and I thought Moby was going to have a meltdown. I just cant bring myself to spend money again at a place that treated its customers with such disdain.

I have never seen a person with as much energy as Councilman Fulop! I seem him around all the time and he is very responsive whenever I have questions and concerns. He has my vote.
