Will/Joes in Jersey City Heights GOOD FOOD & CLEAN!

I stopped in there the other day to see what they had. Good selection of food, clean well laid out looks like they can handle a lot of cooking or just a slice. People we courteous and best of all the lunch special was $3.00 for 2 slices and a can of soda! Good Pizza too! I would definitely recommend it based upon that experience. They are right across from Riverview/fisk Park. Anyone else had any other experience with them? (by the way I dont work or know anyone there. I just live in the heights and think places like this should be promoted!)

Fulop has always acted fairly and honorably in all my experiences with him. I cant get my own councilman to respond for help, and yet he does and is active outside his ward. He is a true credit to Jersey City and in the sea of corupt-ness. he is a breath of fresh air. I woulndt put it past the politico to have even planted the people/documents to keep him from gathering too much momentum. Let his record of who he is stand...

I do always find it amazing that people would bring that sort of stuff with them.... or did they? Especially people getting mugged up in the heights area carrying 3 grand on them.at 11pm at night... alone.. ... either they are reaaaaaaalllly stupid or really smart. And I wonder why my insurance premiums are so high... I am pretty sure I would be pretty disappointing to a mugger.. not sure that the 32cents in my pocket would cover their drug habit..

If Gaughan represents that there is a canceled election, I am curious if he was trying to discourage people from going out to vote.

As far as the tagging and the police, we tried calling. they said they had not seen any and that it wasnt their problem. We should call the graffiti removal service (who never responded to my calls).

Getting tired of all of this.. 2 words.. Beat Cops...

I was hoping for it to be a targeted hit, but apparently not. From what I understand the cops were there soon after and collecting evidence. I have tried to reach our councilman too, but he has never answered. Also there has been a lot of gang tagging around the heights. When I called the police about it, they said they never see it. I pointed out that it is on at least a dozen structures in the particular area. Some fine police work there lou..

Definitely agree with Brewster on this. When laws become arbitrary how can a citizen know when they are safe? What would make the police any different than a gang or the mob? Just watched the movie training day. it really brings out the concept of why a peace officer can think they are doing good and how their views can become distorted in the name of "justice" when really they are hurting those they are charged to protect.

My understanding is they dont issue summons to the litter'er, they send it to the person who owns the home nearby. one of my neighbors got a $125 ticket for not putting lids on his cans. I have been told jersey city has to many people to clean up after. Although if you go to Union city or North bergen, the streets are much cleaner....not sure how that works...

I especially love the when people let their dogs drop right in front of my gate and then walk off like nothing happened. Should we hold their face in it too?

Agreed, i think the one that covers south to congress meets at christa McCoulough (ps28) 3rd Thursdays of the month. Definitely starting to get a bad mojo vibe. Louder streets at night and more gang signs and such. Biggest thing is if you see anything call the cops asap with full descriptions of what you see.

It is a only a "bit" o load of crap. The concept is to keep people spending. Real estate is one of the largest industries with many other industries tied into it. So by keeping people buying they need to "fix up" their home. buy a car to put in that garage, hire someone to clean it, take care of the lawn, etc. I know that isnt as much the case out here, but that is the thought process. So unfortunately, it is falsely inflating the market trends. I think that it keeps consumer confidence high enough such that we dont have a cas e where a recovery wont cost as much.

You can contest it but you would need proof.. Most people dont bother to question if the appraisal was sound.

our house was done on a neighborhood calculation coupled with a couple of MLS sheets. instead of an actual evaluation. When I looked at the comps they were using properties that had more than what we with out deducting value for it.

We got our cat from there. was she in the best of health when we got her? no. was the experience the best it could have been? no. but she was an older cat that apparently they held her for several months before we got her. And she is a great pet, doesnt scratch things up, always goes in the litter box, and doesnt get up on the counters (that we have ever seen) I dont know How LHS would handle the job overall, but it is obvious they really try. We appreciate their services so far to date.

I don't know if anyone remembers Harvey smith interfereing with the development of the large piece of land by the resivior that Shop that Stop in shop had purchased. From what was gathered (it has been a while) After stop in shop had purchased the land, Harvey smith had a friend at the SCC decalre the land eminant domain to build a "school" across from the new one that was just completed and had an acre and a half additional land. Healy and manzo actually fought to get it here as it would have added over 200 jobs to the heights and added 300,000.00 to city coffers in taxes. plus Stop n shop offered to build the new police station (or at least sub station)in their structure saving the city a tremendous amount of money. Perhaps we should contact stop n shop to see if they will testify against him.

We use Slomins. Service is ok. Definitley get the service contract as they have had to come out and fix things a few times especially with the conflicts between verizon and their system. Our salesman, promised us many things he couldnt deliver on and then disappeared. we have a victorian bay window which he said would count as one window on the install and that he could get the window glass break sensors included. needless to say, when we found we couldnt get him, we already signed the contract and we didnt know until it was all installed and they just said "too bad, you signed the contract!" point being if the sales rep promises you something and that they can get you something make sure it is written on the contract. not even a seperate sheet would count. Good luck.

I live up here in the heights. There are many great things going on up here. yea the kids can be a bit obnoxious at times so can the ice cream man running until midnight. That building is a great building though. i know you dont have a car, but if you dont like the busses a car is the best way to go. for most of your stuff you can get to everything on central ave.might i suggest ginos restaraunt (the pizza side is good too) but the food is great and so is caviches up the street from that! as far as the saftey thing goes, it is still the city. I see a lot of professionals walking home from the lightrail alone, but i always suggest traveling in pairs if you can, keep your phone at the ready and just keep your eyes open , it isnt the burbs.. In either case, we know all of our neighbors and we always keep an eye out for eachother. we feel blessed in many ways. Good LUCK!

Re: JC Heights- Congress St. Area

I've been living in the heights for several years now and love it. while there are many good things about downtown, the heights has great potential. especially around that elevator. the hoboken plan calls for many new stores over on monroe. currently there is a great steak house restraunt in the monroe arts center at the bottom of the elevator. the only challenge is they want to cater to young 20 somethings. while there is nothing wrong with that, this area over here has many families and would do well serving that.

transport wise is pretty great as well. the 87 gets you right to the path in hoboken. the 99s gets to port authority in about 15-20 mins from palisade. the 123 does it a bit cheaper from congress and palisade.

we do need some better eating establishments up here, but it will get there. Caviche is pretty good on central and so is ginos (both restaraunt and pizza) their service needs to get better but they have good food and decent prices. The owner of bond drugs up on central as well is great. a good pharmacy.

I hope that helps a bit...
