Huh, guess I walked right by that thing on my way back from lunch. Good to hear that stuff's getting done; I don't care whether it's with politician help or no, this kind of thing helps out. The press conferences I could do without, but whatever.

I love how they refer to the person trying to get the boot off of their car as the 'customer'. While we're certainly paying for a service (removal of the boot), I highly doubt anybody feels like a customer in this case.
I do think that this is a good move though... The time I had my car booted, I took a taxi into Journal Square. As soon as the taxi driver saw me carrying my boot notice, he knew exactly where I wanted to go. Ends up being about the same price and is probably a whole lot more convenient this way.

I see you've already received an answer. There was a similar advertisement for a Microsoft product a while ago, and I seem to remember a Daybreak (ABC show) advertisement coming out of WTC. These operate on a technology that is probably more accurately described as a zoetrope than a flipbook, but the end result is approximately the same.
The zoetrope at the science museum was always one of the coolest things to me as a kid.

Wait a second, EZPass only costs $4/$5 per entry into holland tunnel? I was not aware of this, and I have EZPass. Saves me a bundle, I guess.

my fave is the carnitas torta. perfect 1:1:1 ratio of pork, pork fat, and beans, with some vegetables for show, mayonnaise, between two delicious pieces of bread (what kind of bread is that?!?).
bonus points: one of the guys there knows my name... and he remembered it even though i hadn't seen him for at least three months or so. worst part is, i still wouldn't be able to tell you guys what his name is. thanks for remembering me, tall white dude.

Ah, missed that part on my read-through.
Fair enough, the second time there really was no excuse for him not to show up then. Either the scheduler should be canned/reprimanded ("Was not speaking for me"), or he should come out and apologize ("I made a mistake"). I somewhat doubt either would happen. I still don't get why efforts ("spent on advertising this event for Feb 20th were wasted") were made prior to getting his commitment the first time around. Somebody please clue me in. And no, I'm not trying to be a jackass about this, I'm really just curious about why this sequence of events happened this way.

It certainly doesn't look like the mayor is placing this event high in his priorities, for whatever reason...
I'm a bit confused here... Not being involved in any of the JC politics, is there anything that says that the mayor *has* to attend this sort of rally? I could advertise all I wanted that Mayor Healy was coming over to my house for dinner, try inviting him, and be angry that he didn't show up. Is that reasonable? It doesn't make sense to me at all... if you plan to have certain people at your event, you have to invite them and confirm their attendance well in advance of associating their name with the event, or at least I would think so. I don't understand how the assumption is that without any answer to the negative or positive, that the mayor would come.

As a non-dog owner who lives within a block of VVP, I prefer having the dog run to not. Aesthetically speaking, I find that having the dogs and their fecal matter separated from the rest of the park outweigh any (none, in my opinion) negative aesthetic impact it has on the park.
Being that much less likely to step in poo due to a lazy owner is a very good thing. Losing the picnic tables isn't that big of a deal to me. If losing the human interaction is that big of a deal, bring a tarp out and sit on the grass and relax with your fellow humans.

I totally saw him on Friday evening in the same garish, bright green suit that Kermit42 posted! he was walking along montgomery street at the intersection of jersey avenue, carrying what appeared to be takeout food, away from van vorst park and towards the dixon mills area. i would've followed him but i was already late to a meeting in the city.
