Ibby's had a sign in the window yesterday saying they were opening up a location in Hoboken. Interesting. Wondering if they are opening up a location in Hoboken as well, or if they were just advertising for Mamoun's. Mamoun's and Ibby's owners are related...cousins or something. Too bad Ibby's food isn't nearly as good as Mamoun's. I'll be hitting up Mamoun's in Hoboken tonight :)

And Ironarts, the link you posted states this in the very first line of the website,

"What is Corkage?
Corkage is a per bottle fee that a restaurant charges a customer who brings their own wine to be consumed at that restaurant. This isn't allowed in the majority of restaurants in the country, but it's very common/normal in Northern California."

Read stuff before you post it folks :0

Ironarts: It is ILLEGAL for any establishment in the state of New Jersey to charge a corkage fee. In Texas, where I am from, the laws are different and places are allowed by law and do charge a corkage fee.

Here is the NJ law and the website where I found it:
"4
Are non-licensed restaurants permitted to allow customers to bring their own alcoholic beverages (byob) for consumption with their meals?

Unless there is a local ordinance prohibiting it, customers of an unlicensed restaurant may be permitted by the ownership of the restaurant to bring and consume only wine and beer. The restaurant can supply glasses, ice, etc., but may not impose a cover, corkage or service charge. Also, under no circumstances may spirituous liquor be permitted. There may be no advertising whatsoever of the fact that wine or beer may be permitted. Additionally, the owner may not permit wine or beer to be consumed during hours in which the sale of these products is prohibited by licensees in that municipality, nor allow consumption of beer or wine by persons under the age of 21 years or by persons who are actually or apparently drunk or intoxicated. (N.J.S.A. 2C:33-27)." http://www.nj.gov/oag/abc/faqs.html#4

Perhaps the owners were ignorant of the law at first or just thought they could get away with charging a corkage fee for a while.

I just called and spoke to the manager...the $ fee is NOT a corkage fee. IF you bring your own bottle you don't get charged anything, but if you buy a bottle from the restaurant, which is delivered by Liberty Wines, then you pay a $ Delivery fee, as well you should. FYI, it is against NJ law to charge a corkage fee. IT sucks that folks are so quick to hate a place or write it off just because of rumors. It took 30 seconds to call the restaurant and get the fee policy clarified. Haters SUCK!

jcindahouse, sorry for your loss, but you should ALWAYS lock your bike even while it is inside your house especially a name brand one like yours . Yours new is valued at over 500 bucks and the front basket is European and valued online at 150 bucks. Check craigslist for your bike...it might turn up. Bikes and bike parts get stolen every day even right out in-front of the Grove St. PATH station.

You would think that after having 3 other bikes stolen you would have learned that you must lock your bike up even inside your house. Get a lock like one of these which come with theft protection. Grove St. Bikes downtown sells them:

Re: What is the closest beach to Jersey City?

Asbury is wonderful, I'm there at least once a week. You don't have to pay to park in Asbury if you are willing to park 2 or 3 blocks away from the beach during the week, and much further away on the weekend. Look for the spots that do not have numbers assigned to them. All Jersey Shore beaches stop charging to get on the beach at around 4pm.

You can avoid paying to get into Sandy Hook if you ride a bike in. I've done this a few times both during the week and on weekends. You can park in one of the towns before the bridge.

The bridge on the way to Sandy Hook has been under construction as of late, and this makes the drive time over an hour. It's roughly the same drive time for either Sandy Hook or Asbury.

Asbury has fireworks on the beach on Wednesday's and shows films on the beach on Thursday's for free.

I hate to burst your Asians are better than Westerners (in this case Americans from the USA) bubble JadedJC, but my very white, Texas grandmother born to very white Texan parents ALWAYS had everyone who entered her house take off their "outside" shoes at the back door...no exceptions. I've lived and visited counties all over the world, places like Turkey, Mexico, Spain, and pretty much universally folks in those countries take their "outside" shoes off before entering someones home. Not taking our shoes off in this country is an American thing honey and not a "Western thing". Get off your high horse and have a nice day.

coronalime, there is a difference between talking to your neighbors about something and complaining. You have to be nice, and if it doesn't work then go from there. What does it cost to have a sound-proofing company come in and install a drop ceiling to muffle the noise? Sounds expensive. Not everyone in this situation has money to spend on something like that. We don't even know if the original poster, crushthedemoniac is renting their place or owns it. If they are renting, why on earth would they spend money to put in a drop down ceiling?

Have you guys not thought about talking to your neighbors? I bet if they are on the top floor they have no idea that they are making noise that disturbs you. I had a place in Westfield, NJ several years ago that had hard wood floors. The building and lease required that all tenants had 75% of their floor space covered by area rugs that had a foam thing underneath. I thought it was a dumb rule at the time, but now that I live on the 2nd floor of a 3 story building I totally understand why the building had the rule. I bet if you let your neighbors know what is going on and suggested they get a area rug with a liner underneath your problem would be solved.

Did your management company and realtor really tell you to deal with it or move? What #OOPS#ing jerks....I can't believe they didn't suggest you try talking to your neighbors.

Good luck.

Sutherland, Malatesta is AMAZING Italian food. It is not expensive and is very healthy and fresh. Not like that Italian-American garbage we have here in JC. Laicos is alright, but expensive and far far away from public transport, and forget driving, there is no place to park unless you want to pay for valet :( I dare anyone to tell me a place anywhere as good or as fresh and healthy as Malatesta in Hudson County.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/malatesta-new-york

Lots of little neighborhoods in Queens, Brooklyn, SI, Bronx have GREAT restaurants, and we should too but we don't.

Again, you are STUPID for not having called the cops. What if the guy had been dangerous (like jealous) and attacked you and your husband? This is exactly the kind of situation the cops are for. Stop patting yourself on the back for calling your husband, and for going into a restaurant. If it had been very early or late there might not have been a restaurant to duck into. I am a woman and if some ahole had done that to me, I would have called the cops.
