I agree 100%.

What kind of nonsense is this? A lot of rich people vote Democrat. Read "Red State, Blue State" by Andrew Gelman.

I can't believe Obama is still so loved by many of you. Hillary Clinton would've been a much better president if she had been elected. Bill Clinton was willing to work with nuts like Newt Gingrich. Obama even refused to work with moderate Republicans. All he wants is to have dinner with his family at 6:30 every evening which is a luxury for many of the American people.

To those who don't think everyone should be required to buy health insurance, are you okay with not treating someone in the emergency room with no insurance? Because right now there is a law called emtala.....which I'm pretty sure no one, republican or democrat, progressive or conservative (maybe only the extreme tea party folks) are against..

And if you think emtala should remain the law of the land, who pays for those patients?

I disagree with obama in even giving individuals an opt out. Either you pay before care (like in china) or everyone needs health insurance. It's really that simple.

Life-threatening/disasterous health insurance? Yes, everybody should buy it, because it's highly likely to end up being paid with other people's money (a lot of money). Regular ones? No.

Do you require one to buy flood insurance if he lives in a flood zone? Yes. Do you require everybody to buy home insurance or renter's insurance? Hell no.

EDIT: I was talking about individual policies on (the inside) of condos/apartments. Not sure about SFH, townhouses, etc.

I'm glad you liked it. I suggest that everybody who cares about education read the book.

There is a chapter that discusses Helsinki schools with a lot of immigrants who barely speak Finnish and how they thrive despite that fact that many Finnish parents are skeptical and are unwilling to send their kids to such schools.

Finland spends less per student, students spend less time doing home work, compared to the United States. Yet they receive much better education than US students.

dtjcview, please don't waste your time on somebody who doesn't want to read.

The facts don't back this up. The US may have the largest total immigrants, but nowhere near the largest percentage. Immigration isn't the issue with US education if you compare the numbers.

http://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/docserve ... 99204A7D499E84092825567F8

"The share of the foreign-born population in the total
population is especially high in Luxembourg, Australia,
Switzerland, Israel, New Zealand and Canada where it
ranges from 21% to 42%. In a number of other
European countries as well (namely, Belgium, Spain,
Ireland, Germany, Estonia, Austria and Sweden), the
share is higher than in the United States (13.1%). It has
increased in the past decade in all countries for which
data are available with the exception of the two most
recent members of the OECD, namely Estonia and
Israel."

Right on. Many US parents, teachers, politicians use all kinds of excuses to ignore the core issues of US education. One friends recommended a recent book, The Smartest Kids in the World: And How They Got That Way. Here's a review:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/25/boo ... st-kids-in-the-world.html

Quote from the end of this review, "For all our griping about American education, Ripley notes, we?ve got the schools we want."

One thing the book never mentioned is the lazy culture exacerbated by the affirmative action cr*p. And the new mayor of New York is going to extend this cr*p to high school selection: http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/b ... issions-article-1.1481345

Keep voting for these guys. We get what we want.

A simple step toward easing the problem would be to continue 33-JSQ trains every 5 minutes from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm.

Meanwhile the 33-HOB trains could revert to 10-minute service at 7:00 pm without a problem. Those trains still have empty seats even with 10-minute service.

True. Path should probably adjust their definition of rush hour to the 21st century. Does anybody actually leave work at 5:00 anymore? On an average day, I leave the office between 6:30 and 7:30, I'd say.

Obama wants to be at the dinner table at 6:30. Not bad.

Hi,

OK I just got there. 15 minutes' drive. Looks good though it's smaller than 555. Parking lot won't be ready until about next week, but street parking is easy to find and cheap (30 min per quarter). I hope they get a lot of customers so I don't need to go to 555, Kam Man or Chinatown.

btw, what is with all the holier than thou posters here? Like I said in my original post - I stopped and looked for both pedestrians and cars. rolling to me means an acceleration of up to 10 mph or less. Could a pedestrian run out of the streets and me not stop in time? Yes, it is possible. If I had the chance to do it again, I would totally stop.

So no one here has ever done something wrong driving wise or pedestrian wise and felt bad about it? Jaywalking is dangerous to cars and yourself. Jaywalking is a fine of 54 dollars so what if you were fined everytime you jaywalked? You might deserve it but it would be mean for someone to be glad you were fined. what the hell people...

And another posting telling me isn't it driving 101 to fully stop. Umm yes it is. It is also driving 101 to put your hands on the wheels at 10 and 2 and on the wheel at all times. Do you always do that? maybe YOU should go back to driving school too. Did you ever pick up a phone while driving? Maybe you need to be fined for that because that is also very dangerous - i would argue as dangerous as a rolling stop. You signal every single time you turn? Please. So maybe you need to pay 1000+ in fees and insurance increases. Develop some empathy for people for once..it's called karma people.

I don't always do full stop and have never been caught. However if I do get caught I wouldn't whine, even though every time I did rolling stop I was quite cautious.

It is driving 101 to put your hands on the wheels at all times, but it's NOT driving 101 to put your hands at 10 and 2.

I do pick up phone while driving, but I NEVER do that without a bluetooth headset and I almost always try NOT to pick it up even with a headset: the only time I do pick up is that I called somebody when NOT driving and expected that s/he would call me back and it's absolutely necessary for us to have a very short talk. Talking with or without headset is ALWAYS distracting and can be dangerous.

Empathy for you only if you fully realize what you did could be dangerous and you stop whining about being unlucky. Why not follow CapnJon? I saw nobody here being judgmental, rather they are trying to help.

Since space in DTJC is starting to get scarce, how about doing this?combine a Bar with a Food Market.

Call it a Barket.

It would kill three birds with one stone. We all know you newcomers don?t have much time on your hands. Much too busy playing classic video games and day dreaming about the next great kraft beer right? With a Barket you can have a drink, do your shopping, and pick up chicks (or dudes) all in one trip. Yes Grove Path the Old Colony area would be a perfect fit for a Barket.

Re: Little Gym (of Jersey City) Closed

The fact is that Mr Giani solicited payment right before the new semester began and then filed for bankruptcy right after the first week of classes. $400 per kids for 200+ kids add up to well over 50 ~ 60 grands (assuming half of the parents paid in advance to get 10% discount back in September). Whether he keeps this money for himself or he paid salary for the staff doesn't make a difference to me. The fact is that he screwed his customers with a smile.

In my case I paid $675 one year in advance, which I cannot get it back because it's well past 90 days and the credit card company won't create a dispute case. Yes the loss (200 - 300) has minimal effect on me but Mr Giani lost the trust from the neighborhood forever.

Nevertheless my baby and I do miss the place...

Well, the same Mr Joseph asked me if I'd pay the tuition for Spring semester in the last winter class. It just so happened they closed the shop after the very first week of the new semester. Don't wanna sound cynical but people respond to incentives, and the rest is commentary.

I read through this thread recently to research a body shop. Since I have to pay it on my own I'm sensitive to pricing. It turned out Ziggy's very expensive, Sip Auto Body is cheaper but still too much for me. Didn't bother to try Sernios since somebody in the thread got a much higher estimate than from Sip Auto Body.

It's funny that somebody stopped me at Metro Plaza (where the ShopRite is) and offered to do it for me at a much cheaper price. When I asked him for his cell phone # he found various excuses not to give me so I didn't accept his offer.

Ended up driving to Secaucus Auto Body, got it done perfectly with 30% lower than Sip Auto Body. You can take bus No 2 from JSQ to 1st & Front St in Secaucus then walk in 10 - 15 minutes. In Post # 12 I recommended a repair store which is right next to this body shop. The repair store saved me hundreds of dollars in the past few years. This is the first time I used the body shop.

Good luck!
