From Wikipedia -

The Vatican does not have its own separate criminal code. Instead, in matters of criminal law, as per Article 3 of the "Law of the Source of Law" (one of the six fundamental laws adopted upon ratification of the Lateran Treaty in 1929) the Vatican State generally uses current Italian national law, as well as regional and municipal laws for Rome, as long as they do not conflict with ecclesiastical law or laws specifically promulgated by Pope for the Vatican.[40] As a result, the age of consent is the same as that of Italy. Before January 1, 2009, the adoption by the Vatican of changes made by Italy in its laws was automatic. After this date, the Vatican adoption of changes in Italian law is no longer automatic but comes into effect only after a review. However, as Italy adopted its present age of consent before January 1, 2009, this change in Vatican policy does not affect the age of consent in Vatican City, which remains the same as that of Italy.
The claim is sometimes made that "In the Vatican State, there is an equal age of consent set at 12 years of age", but this is incorrect. In 1929, when the Lateran Treaty was signed, the age of consent in Italy was 12, and this was indeed adopted by the Vatican. However, as stated above, the rise in the Italian age of consent applied automatically to the Vatican City.

Too bad none of the JC cops actually live in JC, they'd be able to vote Healy out at the next election.

NJ residents, what are your senators doing to get $$ from the feds to revive this project - NADA!!! Meanwhile, Giillibrand and Schumer have their hands in the cookie jar already, getting money for NY state.

Don't blame Christie for killing this - he had no choice. Blame Lautenberg and Menendez for not doing their job. If the people of NJ would wake up already and make their elected officials work FOR the PEOPLE instead of the politicians working for their own self-interests, this project would have gone forward.

It's time to drain the swamp (as the soon to be retired Ms. Pelosi once eloquently stated) and get rid of these do-nothing but complain bums. Menendez and Lautenberg should have spoken up and done something BEFORE this became an issue, not afterwards.

BF, the USA has well over 10,000 miles of border/coastline - you have a wide ranges of choices to depart from if you don't like it here. PS - you sound like a disgruntled democrat - after this Tuesday, you'll be bouncing of the walls even more - cheers!

News reports today are quoting that 6,000 construction jobs will be created, which I would tend to believe but wonder how many no-show union jobs are included in that number, but the bigger joke is that 40,000 permanent jobs will be created as a result of the tunnel project - WHERE?

Also, none of the bleeding heart libs on this site are answering why don't the feds, Port Authority, Amtrak, NYC, NY State kick in if this is such a great project. I'm not doubting the benefits of the project, but someone has to pay for it. I could think of hundreds of projects to create jobs and improve transportation, reduce crime, etc., but it has to be paid for - how do you pay when the state is already collapsing under a mountain of debt?

Why doesn't Obama send some of that stimulus money to NJ to pay for this? After all, this is a so-called "shovel-ready" project and not all of the stimulus money has been spent yet.

hero69, guess what? Christie just killed it for a second time. If it's so great of a project and so needed, what don't the feds, NYC or the Port Authority come up with some cash?

Re: Which local downtown JC hospital is better for Emergencies?
Home away from home
Home away from home

NYP - New York Presbyterian. Seriously. Had an experience at Jersey City Medical Center last year - took a family member to the emergency room and it was 18 hours before the condition was properly diagnosed. Even after the diagnosis, the level of care was bad and luckily the delay in diagnosis did not make the illness worse, although it could have. The lack of care and several mistakes/inaction by the hospital staff was dangerous and scary. We transferred out of JCMC and over to NYP so they could get proper treatment for a very serious condition. Ended up staying at NYP for two weeks. From the moment we arrived at NYP, a team of doctors and nurses provided the best care possible and made possible a full recovery. I hate to think what the outcome would have been at JCMC.

I went to JCMC in the spring after I cut myself w/ a kitchen knife - they're ok for these types of cases, but anything more serious I'd avoid them.

Re: Christie Kills Tunnel Project

?Killing the ARC tunnel will go down as one of the biggest public policy blunders in New Jersey?s history,? Mr. Lautenberg said. ?Without increased transportation options into Manhattan, New Jersey?s economy will eventually be crippled.?

No, uncontrolled spending by lifelong politicians IS crippling the economy.

Yes, we need jobs, but not at the cost of higher taxes - let the government find ways to stimulate the private sector, increase overall wealth instead of just re-distributing it. Three cheers for Christie to stand up and say "enough is enough". Ten, fifteen years from now when the tunnel would have been built and the resulting BILLIONS in cost over runs, we won't be saying "Gee, didn't anyone see this coming?"

Keep in mind if you go month to month, the rent is usually higher. When I was renting at the Gotham in 2003, I had to go month to month for a few months before I bought a condo and I think the rent was about 25% higher, but I only had to give one month notice.
