Of course not but this article holds no weight. Where should one begin a list of wealthy people who did great things for this country? Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt? Where should one start a list of not so wealthy people who have bilked the people just in this area alone? Frank Hauge, Sharpe James, Willie Flood, most of our current city council?

Yeah, I like it better when poor people get elected and then start getting rich by taking pay-offs. What a joke this article is.

I had free cable for 3 years until a new neighbor ordered it and mine got shut off. It is nice getting something for free that SHOULD be free.

This kind of damage happens constantly in Hamilton Park. It is caused, in HP, by the Parks Dept. driving there trucks all over the place. The cops always make an effort to stay on the blacktop but the Parks guys are always rutting up the place. They also drive way too fast in an area so populated by kids.

Favre was a great and exciting regular season QB but often folded in big games in the post-season. I still believe that he doesn't win a Super Bowl without Desmond Howard's heroics in the return game. He will be missed though and his last pass may haunt him right back into next seasons line-up.

Sean Landeta, the last active member of the New York Giants 1986 and 1990 Championship teams, has hung up his kicking shoe. Best remembered for his "whiff" against the Bears, his super hot young wives and his ill-fitting helmet. He shall be missed. Sort of.

You can't do anything about Gang activity or speeders, people who run stop signs, litterers, the guy blasting his music, the hordes of people screaming and yelling outside the many city bars, the a-hole who left his shopping cart in front of your car at Target or in front of your property, the drug-dealers, the poor street lighting, etc. etc. So do the popular "feel good' thing and pick on the dog walkers of Hamilton Park. It's an EASY target and it relieves frustration.

These neighborhood bars are a hassle for all residents living within earshot. I lived near Simple, a relatively mild place, and it was a pain in the ass. The people out front smoking and talking loudly on cellphones was enough to make any resident pissed off. Whether a "latin" lounge or a "yuppie" pub the operators should take more responsibility for the behavior of their patrons in and around their property. I don't see why any business should be operating in a residential area past 12am on weekdays or 2am on weekends. The unforeseen consequence of the smoking ban was to drive patrons out into the streets where they don't belong. The events of last weekend can happen anywhere when you mix alcohol and a**holes. We need more DWI checkpoints in JC as well. Perhaps, if it hasn't happened already, the Village neighborhood Assoc. should bring these bar owners to their next meeting and hash these things out. BTW Shane is absolutely a JC Lifer.

Re: This City Needs an Indie Movie Theater

I worked in a multi-plex years ago. The Raiders/E.T./Empire Strikes Back era. All their money is made in Concessions. Over-priced popcorn, soda, candy etc. Often the Theaters were paying 90 cent of every dollar to the distributors. I now watch Turner Classic Movies religiously and Netflix for the newer films. The image on a home theater system is much better than the worn out prints in the Movie Theaters. Of course it is hard to recreate the "collective experience" that a theater gives you but I can't take the distractions and rudeness of many theater goers these days.

Watched the Oscars for the first time in awhile and boy did they stink. John Stewart was a tool and a shill for the Hollywood crowd who he made every attempt not to offend. The songs all sucked too. The old guy getting the Lifetime Achievement was the only interesting part as he was walking/talking Hollywood history.

Those were the quietest car alaarms in history. My son and I had just come from eating lunch at Sava's Polish Deli and were waiting for the lights at newark and Grove. We hear the bang. Saw to smoke, noted which cars (including the beemer) were so close to the origin of the smoke that we thought at first that it was the cause of the explosion . . .

But there were no - I repeat - no car alarms that went off.

I heard at least 2 car alarms coming from the Grassy Knoll although many people were pointing to a window above the Dunkin' Donuts! Oliver Stone where are you?

Why should he have walked away? Why didn't they? Because it was 2 on 1 and they are obviously thugs? Unfortunately for them he had a gun. He probably should have left no witnesses. In the end though it sounds like another case of A-hole vs. A-hole.

Haha and I think it's ironic that somebody who whines about what a waste of resources it is to enforce the leash laws then goes and reports his neighbor for an arguably less hazardous QOL violation (can't remember the last time a garbage can bit somebody, or took a wayward dump in Hamilton Park), and then creates a thread to gloat about it, all self-satisfied-like.

...got hypocrisy?

Your paranoia is amusing. I wish I had such sway over any of the city services. I posted to warn people for the weeks to come. Certain indivuals stirred up the city to come down to HP and enforce the leash-laws and I simply countered, on another, thread that they should not use selective enforcement when it comes to QOL issues. I assume the city decided I was right and they enforced several QOL issues including the leash-law and the garbage ordinance. I thought it was ironic that those same people got tickets for the garbage violation. And, yes, it does give me some satisfaction that they didn't have their "houses in order".

Re: Jersey City's Cinderella Man
Home away from home
Home away from home

In August 1999, Mr. Healy, who owns a home in Bradley Beach, was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing justice, according to court records. David Dellett, a neighbor of Mr. Healy?s in Bradley Beach, told The Jersey Journal last year about the 1999 incident, in which he saw four policemen wrestle down a naked Mr. Healy on his porch.

Mr. Dellett said Mr. Healy would often hold loud parties that featured the playing of ukuleles and the singing of Irish tunes. Last week, a second neighbor, who asked not to be identified, also reported witnessing the same incident on the porch, adding that the mayor had unsuccessfully tried to hold onto a towel wrapped around him.

Our Frat-Boy Mayor.

Reality check re the future of Sava - and your chance to make a difference.

I stopped into Sava yesterday around 3pm and came away very sad. The food is terrific. All prepared fresh, home made style. The portions are generous. The prices are low. The place is spotlessly clean in the Polish tradition.

The problem is, she's not getting the business she needs. She not going to survive unless things change.

The owner is a sweet, charming and sincere woman named Jadwiga (yahd-vee'-gah). She was almost in tears. If I understood her correctly (her English has limits) I was her first customer of the afternoon. The buffet looked it. The trays were full and appeared untouched.

She did say that the past weekend was "OK" but she will not survive for long given the situation she has. Since she was open about it, and offered the information without my asking - beyond a "how's business?" - I will repeat what she told me.

At this point, she can't pay next month's rent. She says her landlord has already told her he will evict if she doesn't.

My point is, if you care about this quality of food, she needs customers.

Go eat now while you can.

You must be a lawyer. You want to argue the argument when you can't win. It is an old trick. Robin inferred that I was complaining about the city writing tickets which I was not. Did I complain about my neighbors lazy super? Yes. It has nothing to do with Robin's point. Nice try.
