Most of the park is open as shown on the map referenced in the post below. The park is only open until 5 PM at this time - hopefully it wil stay open later as the days get longer.

TVMKC is decent, not as good as Taqueria on Grove St. TVMKC steak tacos are decent but their pork tacos can't compare to Taqueria's. An acceptable substitute while Taqueria is closed.

HPYC - thanks for the info. Tried it this morning on a run but the area was flooded due to the rain last night. Better than running up to Pacific Ave and then down into the park.

Three things about this route - cannot do it at night since there are no lights, need to be careful of the rocks/stones and should really wear a haz mat suit through that area.

The north access road to LSP is open but the majority of the park is still closed. I hope they open it up soon - really miss running in the park.

It will be rentals - a 11 or 12 story building. Majority of larger projects now in the city are rentals since banks won't finance condos and rental market is solid.

Taqueria has a sign in their window saying that they'll re-open in mid-December. Their other location is in the East Village.

I tried Taqueria Viva Mexico the other night and it was fair, nothing compared to Taqueria. Viva's pork tacos were eh, but the steak tacos were decent.

According to the FEMA website, all FEMA DRCs in NJ are closed today due to the weather. Your tax dollars hard at work.

Went down to Exchange Place at 10 AM - not bad, a few hours past high tide. The Hudson was right at the level of the walkway by the pier/PATH station - I expected it to be worse. Not much open DT - only the Gotham Deli; Starbucks is closed at EP and Grove, didn't see anything else open. At 12:30 PM, wind and rain seems to be picking up now. Hope for the best. Haven't seen any flooding in the DT area from Warren down to the river. So far our basement is OK.

Another excellent piece of journalism by The Jersey Journal/Rafal Rogoza, showing their complete grasp of geography/direction - "Enterprise was scheduled to make its final voyage on Tuesday morning from the Weeks Marine in Jersey City down the Hudson River to the Statue of Liberty before arriving at the Intrepid."

It would be UP the Hudson River.

MDM - bravo - great points. Too bad all the libs on this site aren't smart enough to see the need for this gas - it will be used unlike the millions wasted on Obama pet projects like Solyndra that just wasted tax payer's money, but got Obama $3,000/plate donations when he was in NYC fundraising (uh, official Presidential visit, wink, wink).

Re: Kennedy Tiles on 1/9

Home away from home

Kennedy Tile is nothing to write home about in terms of selection/price. Unless you're going for high end tile, try any Home Depot or Lowes, about the same as Kennedy or any other run of the mill tile place. There are a few HDs and Lowes locally (Rt 440 and near the Holland Tunnel). If you can't get to them try Home Depot in NYC. If you're looking for high end tile, try Nemo Tile in NYC (around 20th St.).

Re: Legends Hair Salon

I also went to Martin at Legends and found out last week he left - I tried a new stylist at Legends and she was OK but not as good as Martin; the owner called me at home a few hours after I had my appointment and asked if I was pleased with the service - she told me that Martin left to start his own business but obviously didn't give any details - she's very scared of losing business.

Martin is now at Dazzling, 211 Washington ST., JC. 201.763.6643

What about a criminal background check for those working in a bricks & mortar establishment - or better yet a criminal background check for those "working" in City Hall?

Enough REGULATION already!!!!

I checked out the prices for this on-line (did not go to an open house) and they are HIGH. ~$500/sq. ft. Those are 2006-2007 prices not 2011 prices. The units look decent but certainly not high end. Doesn't look like they have central A/C and heat from the pictures.

Re: Need Help With Oil Tank Removal - Recommendations?

We just decommissioned a 1000 gal tank in JC - removed it and restored sidewalk. Cost about $15K total - we were lucky because the soil was not contaminated where we needed to do additional remediation. Used Dresdner Robin in downtown JC. They were very good - did all the work - permits, paperwork, etc.
