Re: LOTS of new Stop Signs Downtown
Home away from home
Home away from home

Once again Reading comprehension skills on here are at an all time low. We went off track because a poster on here mentioned how their dog was almost hit from some jackass backing up down a one way street. The idiot driver is the given in this scenario. Agreed? Can we all agree we acknowledge the drivers suck?

Ok, we also then established this poster walks their dog like most dopey dog walkers in this city, as in well ahead of them. As in improperly. Therefore, if you just walked your dog properly (not likely), the chances of it getting hit by an errant driver are reduced.

Are some of you guys and gals on here not able to walk and chew gum at the same time?

Thank you, your link backs up everything I've said on this board. The only wiggle room is concept of dominance, which is playing semantics. The bottom line point is majority of dog owners in this city haven't taken a second to train their dogs (and themselves).

Thanks again for providing this. I just hope the dopey dog owners in this town actually take the time to be a responsible dog owner.

That's not what I am saying. Control what you can control. If you walk your properly, then it will be much more difficult for it to get when drivers make mistakes. What's insane is how little attention the dog owners in this town actually give to properly training themselves to own a dog (much different than simply training their dogs).

Forget stop signs, speed bumps, and police enforcement. We can all stop Jersey City drivers from being completely insane by simply...teaching our dogs to heel.

Re: Light Rail

I'm not 100% sure but I think they've always had both. The bell one is for when they enter and exit the station, and the loud one is for people are on the tracks. It needs to be loud enough for the dummies crossing with headphones on.

Again, not 100% sure that's the reason. Can someone confirm?

OK, this is a weird question. Has anybody noticed the signaling noise that the Light Rail makes has changed? It went from a pleasant, old fashioned bell ring sound to a weird, loud mechanized often distorted noise.

No, I know, I was being snarky. What a joke this whole situation is.

Living on Washington St, I saw last Friday's accident first-hand and think JCMC did a superb job rescuing that woman and her son (as well as JCFD). One wonders how they would have fared if McCabe was in place. I don't even want to imagine.

Not only are they out of network for everyone, leading to an ambulance bill of thousands of dollars, under their contract they are required to divert patients to CarePoint owned hospitals, such as the most expensive hospital in the country Bayonne.

But the Mayor sneakily tried to spin this by saying JC residents can choose their hospital when they are in a non life threatening situation.

JCBiscuit, it's not about pulling. Your dog walks you. Period

Step up, and be the human in the relationship. Stop making excuses for why you're terrible at walking your dog and wondering how it almost got hit by a car.

http://m.dogbreedinfo.com/?url=http%3 ... ticles%2Fdogwalk.htm#2933

"Walk your dog, do not let your dog walk you. If you allow your dog to walk in front of you while on a lead you are reinforcing in the dog's mind that the dog is alpha over you because the leader always goes first. This can lead to many behavioral issues that some regard as a "breed trait" or "personality," when actually it is your dog being in charge of its humans. When a dog walks in front, it does not drain its mental energy. The dog is not relaxed, as it has the big responsibility of leading the pack. This mental anguish can build up inside of a dog. When a dog is hyper or high-strung it means the dog is not getting the proper amount and/or type of exercise. If your dog runs laps around your yard or house, this is an indication that it is not getting enough exercise."

Morris Canal WAS the safest place to run your dog. In a few weeks its going to be known as the place to get the most tickets from animal control. Second behind VVP and Hamilton. Just wait and see what's in store...

It would be refreshing to meet a dog owner in this city who actually knows how to properly walk their dog.

(Assuming they actually had them on leash of course).

Everybody knows that the best, safest place to run your dog is Morris Canal Park but I would hardly blame the "almost" victim since they did indeed get out of harms way. I suppose you think that woman who got run over with her 5 year old is a terrible parent?

Well then, my friend, you need to read a book on proper dog walking. That's horrible. Your dog walks you. Much like most people in this city. It's sad.

Only in Jersey City does one need to look both ways on a one-way street.

And I was 2 feet behind my dog, who walks on a regular leash.

With all due respect, what do you care? As someone who time and time again displays nothing but disdain for most of JC, but especially DTJC, so what?

You could be spending that time getting Fool-op off his high horse and addressing his silence on PATH/Port Authority or something else worthwhile.

I do admire the passion, but put that energy into something people care about.

Once again, either all of your reading comprehension is so poor you can't understand what is happening, or you're willfully ignoring it and overreacting (as per usual on here), so I will reiterate:

What is happening:

Changing the end time for festivals on weekends and weekdays:
Closing hour of permitted festivals changed from 12am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday.

Closing hour of permitted festivals changed from 11pm to 8pm on Sunday through Thursday

What is NOT happening:

- No one is limiting the number of festivals
- No one is limiting the volume of festivals
- No one is eroding the multi-cultural fabric of JC

So let's just all relax here. Considering these things can begin by noon (correct me if I am wrong), and most trail off around 8/9 on weekends, this is not a big deal at all. Let's just relax and tone down the rhetoric a little.

Sweet! (pun...maybe intended?)

As someone who makes fun of how much NYers pay for OK cupcakes, I'm definitely going to check this out with my GF. We're both big fans of the cupcake, and I haven't really found much in JC to speak of.

I'm excited to check it out.

OK, just got back from Sweet 4 Miles. Very clean, nicely decorated, and a pretty good assortment. I bought some red velvet cupcakes, lemon cupcakes, brownies, and peach cobbler. (Note-small cupcakes are $2, not $1.50-large are $3.)

The woman who bakes is a culinary arts teacher at Lincoln High, according to her husband who helped me today. I'm having a brownie for lunch-very moist, but not hugely deep with chocolate flavor. That said, for $2 it's a steal.

We'll have the peach cobbler tonight-it must be 3/4 lb and smells great-if it tastes anywhere near as good it'll be unreal value at $3!

The gent mentioned as they grow the choices will continue to expand. He couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming-and the folks next door gave me a big hello and goodbye as well.

I half agree and half disagree. I agree with the "if he's doing a decent job" then it's ok. I disagree that he's doing a decent job.

When someone's future ambitions are more important than the current job, you'll see nothing but superficial changes that do nothing but get the person elected later on, and those changes fade immediately after they're gone. Hence why I'd respect him if he did something, ANYthing to challenge the port authority in a feasible way. That's just one thing I'd like to see.

Yes, thank you. Another poster supporting my earlier predictions. Mark my words, every headline you'll see, and every "accomplishment" you'll see happen is for the sole purpose of election to higher office. It's all superficial garbage which makes splashy headlines, and does nothing for the city.

We have yet to see the kid mayor do something of value and fix something structurally wrong with Jersey City's situation (speak out/challenge the Port Authority on PATH issues, for example). Until then, I'll be voting for whomever else is running against him. I'll vote Healy back for all I care, not that he would run again. Or, god forbid...a republican (that was a joke, they know better than to run for office in this partisan hell hole).

As I've been saying for months, the kid mayor is just as empty a suit as Booker. A lot of flashy, superficial changes that do nothing to improve the city. All of these BS "accomplishments" do nothing but help Fool-Op (for the newbies, we were fools for believing him, and he never misses a photo Op) achieve higher office and leave JC in the dust.

Couple that with the way he slams through motions with the city council and he's no better than Healy. Same snake different skin.

Lets begin the movement to NOT reelect this schmuck.
