Re: Jersey City Government Corruption Scandal - 16 arrested
Newbie
Newbie

What else is going on is that the developers, politicians, and attorneys have been working with city and state leaders for redevelopment of superfund site areas. There is big money going on here. Occidental oil company bought the Diamond Alkali site in Newark. Other wordwide ones have been coming in, buying up, not cleanin up, and lining the pockets of our State DEP, HEALTH DEPT, AND MORE.

We need to seriously have Newark checked out for corruption for it its the root place of all of this that gave these scoundrels the balls to take it elsewhere in Jersey. They are covering up alot more than prostitution. Prostituation is just the after-effect party of the deeper crimes. Toxins that cause major health issues, selling livers on black market, infliltrating drugs and guns to the hoods, as they use mottos of safety and nurture-is what is going on here.

Whenever you see, creating new jobs and recreation parks-that means corruption, superfund sites not cleaned up, redevelopment to line pockets and then the prostitution rings to serve their lack of balls.

I guarantee way more than caught are involved and they are in various different careers and positions.

All of them should be hogtied, and have their booty whipped in public till they clean up their funk. And any of their spouses-shame on you for marrying a coward and allowing them to further make our lives harder and diritier. Total losers. Money does not, buy class.

Made it. I did see some black people, though.

If I'd known ZH doesn't open until 4:00 I would have scheduled differently.

A sampling of survey responses about PATH's numerous deficiencies...

-----------------------------------

Cars are filthy! Clean them!

Digital Timetable at stations of when trains rrive/depart!!!!!!

clean the cars more frequently - they always smell like urine

announce times for next arriving trains

stay on schedule

more elevators (Grove specifically)

Fix the A/C on all trains so I don't walk off the train like I took a shower.

RUN MORE TRAINS!!!

bike capacity in trains

Remove cars with little or no Air conditioning

fix WTC exit and entrance on vescey st

increase service in newark

Increased trains on the weekends and late night. They are always packed!

Notify people BEFORE they pay their fare of problems on the lines that could cause disruptions

PLEASE INSTALL FANS AT THE 9TH ST STOP. PLEEEEASE

Ventilation in Station. Presently harmful to ones health!

TV's at station should tell you when the next trains are arriving.

EXtend to Newark Airport

Allow for a direct train from 33rd to JSQ on weekend days (removing the need to go to Hoboken first)

Fix the frequency and capacity now!

Build New Tunnel

Clean the trains and stations

improve the quality of voiced announcements and or put them on the over amount of tv screens in the stations

Test and improve air quality.

Use the TVs for something other than ads for NBC

Direct JSQ-33 on Weekends!!!

Coordinate with NJ Transit schedules

install garbage cans in stations

Increase frequency of trains at night and weeknds period.
There is no excuse to run trains every 25 minutes that are overcrowded. Every 15 min TOPS...

anything that increases ridership capacity somethings gotta give

add in poles to new trains and handrails. there is nothing to hold onto once all seats are taken

Add More Seats In Station

Resume direct weekend service Hoboken-WTC

Freaking Trash CANS

Add a timing mechanism so we know how long we have to wait for the next train

Upgrade SIGNALS so trains can run closer together

fix the train speakers... can never understand what the conductor says

Clean the cars. The bums sleep on the seats and piss all over them selves. The seats are wet and the cars smell

provide a smoother ride

Put an indicator on platforms for when the next train is arriving in Hoboken

Add new PATH entrance at Newport

tailor service to event like the subway does. If there is a rangers or yankees mets game getting out late, plan to have servcie so those people aren't waiting forever on the platform

MOVE THE TRAINS OUT AS FAST AS THE WORLD TRADE TRAINS. JOURNAL SQUARE JUST SITS THERE WAITING AND GETTING MORE AND MORE CROWDED

-------------------------------

That's 43 complaints vs 2 responses saying "path is ok".

A ration of negative:positive that is 20:1.

Great Job PATH!

So quick recap:

You post a poll under a completely biased URL.
People call you out for completely biased URL and classify your site as a complaint site, not a legitimate poll.
You say so what about the completely biased URL, what do you want us to make a pro-PATH URL?
I point out that you could have registered an unbiased URL.
You admit that your poll is completely biased and meant to be that way.

LAWL.

Yes, we do have a bone to pick with PATH.

So far, a vast majority of respondants do as well.
That's the whole point. To give them a voice.

If you want, YOU can make your own survey at PATHPOLL.com, on your own time.

And your results will be +/- 5 percentage points off of ours.
Big deal.

BTW...
Do you also whine about this thread being called
"PATH (pathetic attempt at transporting humans)"
?

You could get a new URL and hide the fact that you have a bone to pick... It's still an internet poll and therefore completely useless.

Poor
Unacceptable

Can't be any fairer than that.

Would you like it better if we call it PathIsAllSunshineAndRainbows.com?

It's a survey, regardless of the URL.

I was being hyperbolic. You keep mentioning the areas around the park. OK. There's no need to go through them them though. You are aware of the pedestrian bridge that avoids all that badness, yes?

I just hadn't had my coffee yet, it wasn't anything on you and I appreciate you relaying the info.

I'll gladly have works with anyone turning a blind eye to letting their dog/child digging holes in the new lawn. The way the park looked before the renovation started was pitiful. There were huge holes in the middle of the field and 80% of the grass had been torn up in the western lawn.

who said die? I said a victim (mug, rape, assault and sure die.)

I've lived in JC all my life. I have no bias. Personally, people who are new to JC would be better off jogging/running on Palisade Ave in the Heights than that of Ocean Ave. and it's surrounding areas if they wanted to go to LSP and jog. The park itself is not bad it's the areas to get there that is. The streetsmart people may not have a problem with the area but the naive will.

FYI:
Even the Bus Drivers would caution you about Ocean Ave and the sketchy hoods leading to LSP.

I must have missed something, the contamination is not where the trees are? I wasnt there and dont live in HP but I am curious. If one option included removing contaminated soil and would destroy trees, I assumed the trees were in contaminated soil. If the other option is to cap 6 inches down how is that possible with the trees in place...roots and all?

of course. but if someone who is not familiar or a transplant , Jersey City has it's bad patches. But someone wants to jog to LSP or even walk it that has no clue what the area can be, it's best to say, be cautious. Ocean Ave. is far more worse than The Heights or Journal Square area. At least the Heights is not equilivent but is way better than OCean Ave and that part of the city.

People should scan the area with their cars before coming to a conclusion. I personally would rather drive to LSP park the car than do the jogging or running if i wanted to do it there. Better yet, I rather jog/run by the waterfront. Period. A naive person has no place in Ocean Ave and its surroundings. They're just a target waiting to be a victim. Unbiased?

This appears just below the survey title "PATHSUX".

PATHSUX.com,
an independent survey of NJ PATH train service.

After 3 days, 600+ Responses

59% Rate PATH BELOW AVERAGE, POOR, or UNACCEPTABLE

51% Say PATH is GETTING WORSE, not better

85% Say rush hour trains are TOO CROWDED

86% Say stations are TOO HOT

75% Say PSA's are USELESS & repeat TOO OFTEN

79% Say 'PATH Thursdays' are a WASTE OF FUNDS

Fill out the survey. And pass this info on to friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers who use the PATH system.

The survey is unbiased as far as I can see.

People can respond positively or negatively to each and every question.

If the responses are 80% negative, it is only PATHS fault.

New train lines have been added to the survey, so now have all four options for morning commute.

I almost rented an apartment at the Foundry so I spent a lot of time checking out the neighborhood and I came to the same conclusion that bodhipooh reports--while hardly an amenity, the neighborhood did not seem dangerous. I would have had great space for a good price and free parking.

The developer's form of lease scared me off. I've never seen anything like it. It basically said the landlord is not liable for anything and the tenant will cover all damages even if they are not the tenant's fault. He would not make any changes, so I walked, considering the document a bad sign. Looks like I was right.

Agreed, G-chick. I wouldn't choose to go for a stroll on Ocean on a Friday/Saturday night, though I have walked to bodegas on Ocean to pick up a few things at that time. For nice strolling, I go to LSP---via the back entrance near the turnpike. Which is also a rode I travel regularly on the days I am not commuting via Ocean.

Could someone explain why the community was against a community garden? Was it a question of space? It seems to me having local gardeners invested in the park would be good for the park.

Re: Shooting near LSP

I live a block off of Ocean Ave and wait for the bus/get dropped off on Ocean Ave at least 3 days a week. All times of day, in the dark some days. It is not the greatest, not the worst, and I have been doing this for 2+ years without a single incident. Not even stepping in dog gak.

I am just providing this information to offer balance to the Ocean Ave comments, not trying to change anyone's mind or say it is universally safe. I am just telling you what I do regularly in the course of my daily life, versus speculating about a different neighborhood than the one in which I live.

How about not letting your little mongrel (canine or human) dig a hole in a public park for five minutes???

Capping is clearly the option. I hope nobody tries to hold this up because little Johnny loves to eat paint chip and dirt.

Theoretically, you are right. But if you ever had a dog or child you will know that it only takes a quick turn of the head for something to happen (think Kramer vs Kramer). Thank you PBW for stepping up and letting us that couldn't attend what happened at the meeting........The 6 inch cap seems like the best option but it does seem a little wierd that they wouldn't have a secondary cap proposal. How much would a 10 inch cap.

I was personally hoping they would say they'd look into the cost of a little higher cap, but it doesn't look like it. I agree capping seems to be the best option. The only reason I raised my hand against was because there was about 10 people with their hands raised when they stopped to take the vote, and I thought all concerns should be addressed before taking a count. I usually pay my 5 dollar dues in the summer at an event in the park, with it being closed I couldn't do this year, so at the time my vote probably didn't officially count anyway.

Reading this thread shows the ignorance of so many...

First off, JCorNYC is full of BS. To go to LSP, you do not need to go through bad neighborhoods, or even approach them. You take the HBLR and get off at the LSP light rail station, which is the one after Jersey Ave (if heading South) and before all the other ones referenced by JCorNYC.

As for Wibbit, JennyMayla and GreenevilleChick, you are all taking extreme sides of the same topic. I live in The Foundry, which is very near where the shooting took place, and across the street from the LSP area. The area that sorrounds The Foundry definitely looks sketchy (at best) but it is rather safe most of the times. We could argue ad nauseum why it is "ghetto" but the fact remains that most people would find the area, at face-value, to be "undesireable". Still, I like the area and feel safer here that I would living in many other parts of JC, including the Ocean Ave mess, as well as many/most parts of the Heights. I bike in the area often and do not fear for my life, and my hot beautiful wife (who, if it matters, appears whitey, but is actually Mexican) walks in the area and visits the bodegas and corner stores, and we never feel threatened or at risk. The worst aspect of this area, besides the litter, chicken bones and dog poop, has got to be the constant noise late at night of trucks and cars, as well as the ocassional low-life arguing with a boyfriend/girlfriend.

for the record, and since it will shame wibbit to be grouped with me, i don't think my reaction was so extreme. is it a sketchy neighborhood? maybe. but i don't think it's life threatening and i don't think there are gangbangers on the corner 24/7/365. that was my point.

oh wait, maybe you meant what i said about ocean ave. in which case, i stand by it. 100% scary and near daily police activity to prove it. so call me an extremist then. i can live with that.

I do not believe I went to an extreme either, all I said is I have no problems being at the foundry late at night. Or maybe you like that it is a little rough ( so you can brag to your friends) ... I don't think it is rough at all.
