Don't get me wrong, I think Hillary sucks.. and I understand why Trump has support. But the way Trump supporters worshipped their hero was scary. Like he could do no wrong. That's a dangerous situation for our citizenry to be in.

Sure sounds like you are describing the cult of personality around the current guy in the WH.... all the hope and change?? there are very few people better off than they were 8 years ago despite the propaganda where they have been telling us how much better we are... and HRC will make sure her purse gets bigger. Why should we vote for her??? It should be landslide numbers if people were happy?

Oh you boys haven't been reading the thread... Republicans and American's with a conscience have been preoccupied trying to keep the truth upfront regarding the most recent Muslim Terrorist attack on our soil from being covered up. They figured it worked so well 4 years with the Benghazi embassy/Muslim Riot Tape.. lets try it again. Oh Susan Rice won't go out again on Sunday talk shows and lie, let's sacrifice Lynch credulity to stop the investigation. Meanwhile where has HRC been on any of the issues emerging... gun control, illegal immigration??? She is doing damage control for the new book on her and Bill's first go round at the WH. Then they will be dealing with the fallout that will be starting shortly from the hacking of the DNC Servers. Hang on boys and girls!!!

Gays should really be upset that the DOJ is trying to make Orlando a Gay on Gay crime, rather than calling it what it is.

Why is it not possible to be all of the above?

It seems to be the most logical, given all the evidence, that the man was gay, struggled with it, sunk into an extreme for of Islam after being raised in a house of very conservative Islam (as Mao likes to call "traditional") and became a terrorist.

It's been reported that the guy went on dates with men. It's known that he was on gay dating websites. It's known that he's been going to the club for years, not just a few trips to scope it out.

This foolish line started with the exwife in a TIME.com interview... " But when she thinks back on the brief marriage seven years ago, there are other recollections that come to mind. ?There were things he would do in his daily life that most straight men don?t do,? she said in a phone interview with TIME on Tuesday.

?He would take a long time in front of the mirror, he would often take pictures of himself, and he made little movements with his body that definitely made me question things,? she recalled, ?It definitely popped up in my head whether he was totally straight.? WOW THAT IS TOO GAY... Today she is claiming the FBI wants her to be shut up because the FBI wants to blame on Muslims... In the meantime Lynch and the DOJ look like fools for potentially tampering with evidence of the phone call content. There is not a single source you can trust with this investigation at this point so I will stick with my crazed Muslim Terrorist view.

I think Obama saying the phrase "Islamic Terror" indicates they he understand the scope and objectives of these killers. At the moment Obama says things that are 180 degrees out of sync with what his senior intelligence people are telling Congress. He never use the phrase because his 7 1/2 years of a Clinton/Kerry foreign policy would be a failure when you look at the havoc ISIS etc have brought to the world. J. Edgar Hoover said right up to his death that there was no such thing Organized Crime, Murder Inc. or La Costa Nostra.

Now if we can get the Obama Administration off the big lie they and the media floated.... " A mentally unbalanced gay man was responsible for murdering 49 members of their community. I am surprised the Gay Community has been so silent, but I will say that is such an insulting and offensive premise. Bordering on blame the victims. The SOB was not cruising bars... he was stalking hi prey, preparing for that bloody night. I can't speak for the Gay Community but as an American Citizen I can express my disgust with the WH trying to shade or change the truth to protect their failure after 2 MCIs in 8 months by self avowed Muslim Terrorists.

Yup... we are going to ignore them. Obama and his people are despicable. They are creating revisionist history right before our eyes. This will be the official record for ever. How do they live with themselves. This is a public admission of the guilt of this Muslim Terrorist because they know their attempt make this into a Gay on Gay murder is not believable and the family has to many connections to Clinton State Department and other areas of the administration. Minimally this is a major embarrassment to the Administration, but in all likelihood there is probably something worse they are trying to cover-up. And the media will go along with this because the bastard is dead, there will be no trial so edited tapes (evidence tampering) would not be a concern to the court. Go Trump!

I do not know where traffic ticket revenue goes, a few hours on Grand Street from the McDonalds eastward would be very lucrative and might prevent an injury or accident. The drivers pay no attention to the 25MPH signs and it difficult to get some of them to stop at crosswalks with lights. Intersection lights at Marin and Grand have this funky timing that allow eastbound cars on Gran to turn left on Marin... about 10 seconds later the pedestrian light to cross Marin walking west comes on. Not only do you have to watch cars that continue taking an illegal left turn with pedestrians in crosswalk, but you have to look over your shoulder to be sure you don't get hit from behind by a westbound Grand St car taking a right onto Marin.

Those jobs were an artifact of LABOR UNIONS, an institution the GOP loves to vilify. There was no other reason to pay unskilled or moderately skilled labor middle class wages, and it was in large part fear of communism that made them do it. There was no shortage of labor to drive wages up. As Monroe loves to point out, the only thing that gives NJ road workers middle class wages is the wage laws, otherwise they'd be making <$20/hr. Why do you imagine factories forcibly reshored would be different without organized labor?
You are right about flooding the labor market with unskilled labor... wages will remain flat. This helps big business and it provides democrats with an uneducated voting block that will support their socialist platform. As been said before, those counter jobs at McDonalds were always considered jobs to supplement a family income and/or help some kid build his/her work history. I don't have much sympathy for people that have choose being counter server as a career. Not to say I am not sympathetic to extenuating circumstances but to pay $15 to serve a Coke will only make business look for ways to reduce labor costs through automation. And the kids coming out of colleges with degrees with minimal job prospects tend to be the ones who start at banks making $20 an hour. And probably carrying a big education debt too. The Higher Ed. Systems should be sued for fraud and misrepresentation for the debt they are saddling kids with to support their bloated administration costs etc.

"The capture, gassing, and killing of Canada geese is not effective at solving geese conflicts and any reduction in the population is temporary," states a letter included with a petition on Change.org.

"The League of Humane Voters of NJ and other organizations are willing to work with the town council to educate residents, property owners, and management companies about how to humanely and effectively solve geese conflicts."

Trump, His Virus and the Dark Age of Unreason

By Bill Moyers

There?s a virus infecting our politics and right now it?s flourishing with a scarlet heat. It feeds on fear, paranoia and bigotry. All that was required for it to spread was a timely opportunity ? and an opportunist with no scruples.

There have been stretches of history when this virus lay dormant. Sometimes it would flare up here and there, then fade away after a brief but fierce burst of fever. At other moments, it has spread with the speed of a firestorm, a pandemic consuming everything in its path, sucking away the oxygen of democracy and freedom.

Today its carrier is Donald Trump, but others came before him: narcissistic demagogues who lie and distort in pursuit of power and self-promotion. Bullies all, swaggering across the landscape with fistfuls of false promises, smears, innuendo and hatred for others, spite and spittle for anyone of a different race, faith, gender or nationality.

In America, the virus has taken many forms: ?Pitchfork Ben? Tillman, the South Carolina governor and senator who led vigilante terror attacks with a gang called the Red Shirts and praised the efficiency of lynch mobs; radio?s charismatic Father Charles Coughlin, the anti-Semitic, pro-Fascist Catholic priest who reached an audience of up to 30 million with his attacks on Franklin Delano Roosevelt and the New Deal; Mississippi?s Theodore Bilbo, a member of the Ku Klux Klan who vilified ethnic minorities and deplored the ?mongrelization? of the white race; Louisiana?s corrupt and dictatorial Huey Long, who promised to make ?Every Man a King.? And of course, George Wallace, the governor of Alabama and four-time presidential candidate who vowed, ?Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever.?

Note that many of these men leavened their gospel of hate and their lust for power with populism ? giving the people hospitals, schools and highways. Father Coughlin spoke up for organized labor. Both he and Huey Long campaigned for the redistribution of wealth. Tillman even sponsored the first national campaign-finance reform law, the Tillman Act, in 1907, banning corporate contributions to federal candidates.

But their populism was tinged with poison ? a pernicious nativism that called for building walls to keep out people and ideas they didn?t like.

Which brings us back to Trump and the hotheaded, ego-swollen provocateur he most resembles: Joseph McCarthy, U.S. senator from Wisconsin ? until now perhaps our most destructive demagogue. In the 1950s, this madman terrorized and divided the nation with false or grossly exaggerated tales of treason and subversion ? stirring the witches? brew of anti-Communist hysteria with lies and manufactured accusations that ruined innocent people and their families. ?I have here in my hand a list,? he would claim ? a list of supposed Reds in the State Department or the military. No one knew whose names were there, nor would he say, but it was enough to shatter lives and careers.

In the end, McCarthy was brought down. A brave journalist called him out on the same television airwaves that helped the senator become a powerful, national sensation. It was Edward R. Murrow, and at the end of an episode exposing McCarthy on his CBS series See It Now, Murrow said:

?It is necessary to investigate before legislating, but the line between investigating and persecuting is a very fine one, and the junior senator from Wisconsin has stepped over it repeatedly. His primary achievement has been in confusing the public mind, as between the internal and the external threats of Communism. We must not confuse dissent with disloyalty. We must remember always that accusation is not proof and that conviction depends upon evidence and due process of law. We will not walk in fear, one of another. We will not be driven by fear into an age of unreason, if we dig deep in our history and our doctrine, and remember that we are not descended from fearful men ? not from men who feared to write, to speak, to associate and to defend causes that were, for the moment, unpopular.?

There also was the brave and moral lawyer Joseph Welch, acting as chief counsel to the U.S. Army after it was targeted for one of McCarthy?s inquisitions. When McCarthy smeared one of his young associates, Welch responded in full view of the TV and newsreel cameras during hearings in the Senate. ?You?ve done enough,? Welch said. ?Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?... If there is a God in heaven, it will do neither you nor your cause any good. I will not discuss it further.?

It was a devastating moment. Finally, McCarthy?s fellow senators ? including a handful of brave Republicans ? turned on him, putting an end to the reign of terror. It was 1954. A motion to censure McCarthy passed 67-22, and the junior senator from Wisconsin was finished. He soon disappeared from the front pages, and three years later was dead.

Here?s something McCarthy said that could have come straight out of the Trump playbook: ?McCarthyism is Americanism with its sleeves rolled.? Sounds just like The Donald, right? Interestingly, you can draw a direct line from McCarthy to Trump ? two degrees of separation. In a Venn diagram of this pair, the place where the two circles overlap, the person they share in common, is a fellow named Roy Cohn.

Cohn was chief counsel to McCarthy?s Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, the same one Welch went up against. Cohn was McCarthy?s henchman, a master of dark deeds and dirty tricks. When McCarthy fell, Cohn bounced back to his hometown of New York and became a prominent Manhattan wheeler-dealer, a fixer representing real estate moguls and mob bosses ? anyone with the bankroll to afford him. He worked for Trump?s father, Fred, beating back federal prosecution of the property developer, and several years later would do the same for Donald. ?If you need someone to get vicious toward an opponent,? Trump told a magazine reporter in 1979, ?you get Roy.? To another writer he said, ?Roy was brutal but he was a very loyal guy.?

Cohn introduced Trump to his McCarthy-like methods of strong-arm manipulation and to the political sleazemeister Roger Stone, another dirty trickster and unofficial adviser to Trump who just this week suggested that Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin was a disloyal American who may be a spy for Saudi Arabia, a ?terrorist agent.?

Cohn also introduced Trump to the man who is now his campaign chair, Paul Manafort, the political consultant and lobbyist who without a moral qualm in the world has made a fortune representing dictators ? even when their interests flew in the face of human rights or official US policy.

So the ghost of Joseph McCarthy lives on in Donald Trump as he accuses President Obama of treason, slanders women, mocks people with disabilities, and impugns every politician or journalist who dares call him out for the liar and bamboozler he is. The ghosts of all the past American demagogues live on in him as well, although none of them have ever been so dangerous ? none have come as close to the grand prize of the White House.

Because even a pathological liar occasionally speaks the truth, Trump has given voice to many who feel they?ve gotten a raw deal from establishment politics, who see both parties as corporate pawns, who believe they have been cheated by a system that produces enormous profits from the labor of working men and women that are gobbled up by the 1 percent at the top. But again, Trump?s brand of populism comes with venomous race-baiting that spews forth the red-hot lies of a forked and wicked tongue.

We can hope for journalists with the courage and integrity of an Edward R. Murrow to challenge this would-be tyrant, to put the truth to every lie and publicly shame the devil for his outrages. We can hope for the likes of Joseph Welch, who demanded to know whether McCarthy had any sense of decency. Think of Gonzalo Curiel, the jurist Trump accused of persecuting him because of the judge?s Mexican heritage. Curiel has revealed the soulless little man behind the curtain of Trump?s alleged empire, the avaricious money-grubber who conned hard-working Americans out of their hard-won cash to attend his so-called ?university.?

And we can hope there still remain in the Republican Party at least a few brave politicians who will stand up to Trump, as some did McCarthy. This might be a little harder. For every Mitt Romney and Lindsey Graham who have announced their opposition to Trump, there is a weaselly Paul Ryan, a cynical Mitch McConnell and a passel of fellow travelers up and down the ballot who claim not to like Trump and who may not wholeheartedly endorse him but will vote for him in the name of party unity.

As this headline in The Huffington Postaptly put it, ?Republicans Are Twisting Themselves Into Pretzels To Defend Donald Trump.? Ten GOP senators were interviewed about Trump and his attack on Judge Curiel?s Mexican heritage. Most hemmed and hawed about their presumptive nominee. As Trump ?gets to reality on things he?ll change his point of view and be, you know, more responsible.? That was Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah. Trump?s comments were ?racially toxic? but ?don?t give me any pause.? That was Tim Scott of South Carolina, the only Republican African-American in the Senate. And Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas? He said Trump?s words were ?unfortunate.? Asked if he was offended, Jennifer Bendery writes, the senator ?put his fingers to his lips, gestured that he was buttoning them shut, and shuffled away.?

No profiles in courage there. But why should we expect otherwise? Their acquiescence, their years of kowtowing to extremism in the appeasement of their base, have allowed Trump and his nightmarish sideshow to steal into the tent and take over the circus. Alexander Pope once said that party spirit is at best the madness of the many for the gain of a few. A kind of infection, if you will ? a virus that spreads through the body politic, contaminating all. Trump and his ilk would sweep the promise of America into the dustbin of history unless they are exposed now to the disinfectant of sunlight, the cleansing torch of truth. Nothing else can save us from the dark age of unreason that would arrive with the triumph of Donald Trump.

Progressives have a difficult time distinguishing reality and fantasy. That is why Hillary still remains so popular... they actually think The Clinton Years were the 2nd coming of Camelot. Those yeas end with Bill claiming to be the 1st Black President when he left office. All considered the Clintons will be the first black family to leave the White House dead broke. For Obama to admit this late in the game that there is a Global Muslim Terror problem only serves to discredit his 8 Years of his failed foreign policy lead by Clinton/Kerry. Knowing what we know about Clinton/Wall Street/Clinton Foundation it just amazes me that people could support 4 more years of that type of behavior. Their "super delegate rule" corrupted the whole nomination against Sanders or anyone else.

WH still bound and determined to make Orlando a Gay on Gay killing to distract people from seeing BHO's leadership failures dealing with this global Islamic Jihad.

"Poor Muslim Ambiguously Gay Guy" tried so hard to be accepted in the homo-phobic Islamic world and seeking love in all the wrong places in the US. I wonder if he was a Batchi Batchi boy back in Afghanistan.

BTW. In this article, there are great tips on identifying Gay Guys.... stuff like "You might be Gay if you spend to much time in front of a mirror. Enjoy!

I'm sorry that there are facts involved in this case that contradict your preconceived notions of what you wish to have happened.

@Pebbles

Wow... you really think that self proclaimed Muslim Terrorist in the throes of a perverse slaughter and maiming of 100 plus people is just a "preconceived notion" of mine. That bastard was not cruising bars... he was stalking his prey and you should truly be ashamed to think it is anything else more than that.

Oh please.... the Daily News is now reporting Facebook posts as news? So file a police report of harassment. A "white man" pushing a baby stroller won't be hard to find on video surveillance. This story fits right in with last month's Daily News report about the Muslim woman who slashed her own face and then reported to police that a "white man" did it at the corner of Wall Street and Broadway at 2:00 in the afternoon. Police quickly debunked yet suckers like you fell right into line blaming Trump. Deport the both of them for inciting a race riot.

A group of F train riders said ?eff that? to a man harassing two women wearing hijabs the morning after the Orlando shooting.

Commuter Amaira Hasan says she was riding from Jamaica, Queens, to her job in Manhattan around 8 a.m. Monday when an aggressive straphanger came onto a packed car at Jackson Heights and started berating two Muslim women riding together.

The 25-year-old told the Daily News that she could hear through her headphones the unidentified white man ? wheeling a baby in a stroller ? telling the women that they were terrorists.

?The man insisted that the two women go back home and take their bombs with them,? Hasan wrote in a Facebook post that has gone viral and been shared more than 23,000 times.

However, a diverse group of passengers on the train were not pleased with the outburst of racism during their morning commute and immediately confronted the harasser, she said.

Despite being told to stop, the man continued a rant about how ?Donald Trump is right? and railed against the welfare system and undocumented immigrants.

I agree whole heartedly about the mental healthcare. That is really the root problem to these teenage murders. More research needs to be done to understand what would make a person walk into Mall and randomly shoot innocents. This is far different then some monster inspired by some twisted ideology. A good start was the bullying campaigns put into the schools.

In his Oval Office remarks, Mr. Obama also urged people considering how to respond to the attacks to avoid an ?either/or? debate about terrorism or gun control and instead to consider addressing both.

The WH political machine has kicked into full gear to protect the Noble Peace Prize winner. Of course he wants the people to address both issues at the same time. That leads to chaotic heated discussions (see JC LIST) which result in little or nothing getting done on gun control or terrorism.

The national chaos also offers cover for his leadership deficiencies. If we were to look at his record on gun control and terrorism separately people would see how ineffective he has been as a leader of the people. An excellent apologist though? As for Jarrett, Plough and the rest of the WH Crew? it is all about political expediency to protect what is left of his presidential legacy. The mass murder of his key constituents due to his neglect is not the best way to leave office. So today the media lapdogs are promoting the Orlando story as a Gay on Gay killing to whitewash the obvious connections to Islamic terror. And gun control will slide to the back page until the next killings where the WH will be praying it is someone with a driving a pickup truck with Trump bumper sticker.

Just to throw something out here, why doesn't the debate also include the subject of mental health care? How many of these rampages had severe and intractable mental illness at their very foundations? How many of these individuals were unable to receive adequate treatment or were on meds (or suddenly off meds) that increased their violent and suicidal ideologies?

We just have to look around on our own streets to see the suffering of those with mental conditions. Families are unable to commit these individuals to secure facilities because of relaxed mental health legislation. And doctors are easy to throw drugs at the problem - but it often takes a long and very complex period of time to get someone's symptoms under control with the right cocktail of pharmaceuticals (which often carry a burden of debilitating side effects).

Reporter Kate Masters notes; "Suicide accounts for more than two-thirds of the 32,000 firearms deaths the United States averages every year. Or, to come at the issue a different way: Suicide is the second-leading cause of death for Americans aged 15 to 34, and more than 50 percent of cases involve guns. (source)

The Orlando shooter was unstable, abusive, apparently on steroids in the past, and quite possibly from a questionable home. He exhibited many symptoms early on of a personality disorder. But yet, he was untreated, as far as anyone knows.

Approximately 21,333 people die each year due to suicides using a firearm (41,149 total suicides per the CDC). And many think "radical Islam" is still our biggest problem.

The problem is right in front of our eyes, on our shores, right here.

Maybe because it is an EVIL ISALMIST PLOT, called Jihad and it is happening all over the world. It is a war against Non-Islamic Cultures and they intend to dominate the world. They say plainly and clearly to the world and stupid people do not believe them even as they continue to knock airplanes out of the skies.

Hmmm let's see, as people laid wounded or dying on the floor, they were desperately calling out for or thinking about loved ones with their last breath of life... in the meantime this bastard knowing he only had moments left dialed 911 and swore allegiance ISIS, ALLAH and anything a Muslim terrorist might do as a requirement to receiving is 70 Virgins. I just do not see any wiggle room here. He is a Soldier of Allah and I am willing to give him the benefit of any doubt that by definition, he is Muslim Terrorist. Nothing more, nothing less. Sorry if you are looking for something deeper in this tragedy.

Of course, don't let the facts get in the way of a convenient narrative. Of course he couldn't be a mentally ill scorned lover who just lost it. Of course he couldn't be someone who decided to go out in a blaze of glory for whatever twisted reason. Only in America, when a criminal has a "Muslim" name, is he branded a terrorist first, a Jihadist, an Islamist, a supporter of ISIS. Then when the facts settle themselves, and the awful derisive narrative has already done its brutal damage to our society, then we learn the truth which is often much more simple than was originally thought.

The man was a monster. He took 50 innocent lives from their families and the world. Let us understand his motivations first then we can learn the truth.

Orlando shooter described as a regular at gay club Pulse by patrons

Omar Mateen lived a double life and was no stranger to Pulse, the gay Orlando nightclub where he killed 49 people Sunday morning, according to patrons who recognized him as a regular.

Mateen?s family said his bloody rampage was sparked by anti-gay hatred.

But the killer, who had a wife Noor Salman and a child, had visited the gay-friendly hangout several times over the past three years and was active on gay hook-up sites like Grindr.

One couple, who work together as drag-dancing performers, said they?d seen Mateen as many as a dozen times at Pulse.

Ty Smith and Chris Callen also said they?d seen him escorted drunk from Pulse more than once.

?I?ve seen him a couple of time at Pulse, a couple of other people that I?ve spoken with, including an-ex security guard, have actually witnessed this guy at Pulse many times before,? said Callen, who performs as Kristina McLauglin.

?One friend was a security guard there two years ago and she remembers him,? Callen told the Daily News.

He estimates Mateen began showing up about three years ago. Everybody was blown away to realize he was the man responsible for the slaughter.

?It?s shocking to everyone because we saw him there before,? said Callen.

He said one night Mateen got angry about a religious joke and pulled a knife on a friend. But it was nothing the friend couldn?t handle, Callen said.

The performer recalled his first words with Mateen three years ago.

?He was a nice guy,? he said of the shooter. ?He was at the bar. He was actually talking with another guy. I turned around. I was in drag. I said hello. He seemed comfortable,? Callen said.

?As I was onstage he was standing next to somebody, having a conversation, having a good time close to the stage. Later on that night ... he was out there dancing with another guy. It could be he just went crazy. Maybe he got radicalized and hated who he was,? Callen said.

Callen and his husband said they were headed to Pulse that night after celebrating Smith?s 40th birthday.

Much more
