JC_DowntownRegular you have it right. This is certainly not the first time and certainly not the last time that Larry, Mo and Curly have somehow infiltrated this glorious cites Public Works Dept.

Why don't we all make it our civic duty to drop a line to these two geniuses:

Thomas Best, the Acting Director of the JC Public Works Dept. a line and tell him how unhappy we are to many of these new "improvements."

Thomas Best, Acting Director
575 Route 440
Jersey City, NJ 07305
Tel: 201-547-4402 Fax: 201-547-4803

Robert Cotter, the director of the Department of Housing, Economic Development & Commerce should also get a call. I have witnessed this guy show up to a city council meeting in black sweatpants!

Robert Cotter, Director
30 Montgomery Street
Jersey City, NJ 07302
Tel: 201-547-5070 Fax: 201-547-6556

????Info on obtaining R1 driveway variance???

Hi I would like to build a driveway in place of my front yard the contractor today told me I would need to get a variance. I was wondering if someone would explain to me what exactly I would need to do. I'm a law student and I'm doing this for my parents so I'm hoping I'll be able to do most of the stuff myself. Thanks for any help

Call Parks and Forestry at 201 547-4449 and find out why the trees were removed. The last thing we need is to have healthy trees to be cut down in this neighborhood?it?s already a section of the city that is generally neglected.

Cherry trees chopped down on Johnston & Van Horne

Walked my kids to school yesterday to discover 4 beautiful LARGE Cherry trees and two other larger trees were butchered down. My kids & I were very upset. I have taken some really great portraits of them in front of the trees when they were like giant puffballs of white flowers. There's already almost no trees around here. Whats the deal?

Really really sad about this.

I didn't mean to insinuate ALL the neighbors were of lesser quality. The higher quality ones must have had jobs and been at work.

You mean they cut down a tree they could have easily worked around. No that could never have happened.

They will replant the trees.....after they cut up the newly laid sidewalk because there are no cutouts for those. Then they will cut down those trees to put in the new lighting, but only after they have laid down some new sidewalk. Then they will cut up the sidewalk again to put in lights and trees. After all that they will rip up the street and repave it, only to damage the curb and sidewalk to have to put it in again.

It sounds like a plan to me.

By the way, has anyone noticed the newly resurfaced corner at Montgomery and Jersey (corner of the library) - it has already cracked in several places.

Just another half assed project brought to you by your poorly spent and pocketed taxes.

I haven't notice really any gargabe in the mud. There are some old rocks and bulkheads. There is a really nice beach just to the southeast of this spot. Yes, there is some refuse on it, but it is a real beach, maybe about 1/3rd of a mile or so. It is lower NY bay so almost the Ocean. South East from the beach about 6 miles is the open sea.
Unfortunately, the beach and the trails around it are closed to the public from like April to November to protect the birds. This, to me is idiocy and has the fingerprints of Sam-I-am-the-Park-Pesin. We have to remeber that the park is for the people. This is the most one of the most densley populated places in the the First World. Thus, wildlife sanctuaries have no place in Hudson County if it excludes people. The key is to make sensible restricitions, e.g. not letting any one on the beach for the month that the Plovers are nesting, or not letting anyone in the weeds, just on the trails.

"You have PROBLEM with me?"

As for the "duking" standards, I feel they are pretty straightforward. Punches thrown, and landed, by both parties. I also fail to see the knee to the crotch. IF said knee was to have landed, I would classify that as fighting, not duking out. Similar, but different. The same was MMA fighting is similar to, but different than boxing.

I believe what you are referring to is around the :58-1:00 mark. That was trying to kick the other person's legs, not a knee to the groin. I will give you credit for posting a video of a legit street fight, even if it did leave a lot to be desired.

heh that's good to know. i dont think they will sell at the price they are asking. To be honest i wont even consider there if it's 400k, the interior finish is really terrible and it's $300-400 a month extra for parking. There are far better values out there.

It's not a "lie" per se - the line they use is it's "85% sold and about 50% have closed." That made sense last year when they could only close a certain number per week. But the number of closed has been practically unchanged since the financial meltdown in September. Methinks 85% includes all of the folks who must have walked away at this point - but true, they did "sell" those units at one point.

Wow - I looked at the picture of the kid and all I could think was "you poor, stupid, stupid kid. One moment of bad judgment and your life may have been ruined." I don't say that to excuse or diminish the damage he caused and certainly the health of Mr. Torres is of greatest importance here. But 19 year-old males often do stupid things. I know I did. You just hope that your stupidity stays within the range of generally harmless. And if you have a son, you think that all the time.

The kid, if found guilty, definitely needs to suffer the consequences of his actions. I just don't think that's a cause for satisfaction or celebration.
