Been seeing a lot more scooters giving out tickets. Saw one person get hit with two tickets one morning. The first for being parked in a cross walk and the other for street sweeping 15 minutes later.

I have seen more cops writing tickets... and felt it likely had to do with the elimination of the parking authority... seems like others agree.

The tickets I now see are for blatant infractions; parking in front of fire hydrants, parking too close to intersections, etc. All things that deserve tickets.

A few years ago, I was given a totally BS ticket for parking in area where it supposedly banned, despite zero signage or marking. I tried to fight it by mail, sent a ton of pictures showing the curb had no markings nor sign.

Then I got a notice saying I was in default- the city ruled against me without even notifying me.

That's when I decided to rent a spot.

It's typical of this board to rage against drivers. I didn't do anything wrong, but had to pay the city because it 1) either knowingly defrauds its citizens or 2) its employees are too lazy to do a good job.

The reason the city is giving more tickets is because they're worried snow will prevent them from doing so in the next two months.

It's all about money. Safety? Lol.

I'm perfectly fine with it (and yes, we have a car.) I'm tired of watching my neighbors park in front of the fire hydrant in front of our house. I know parking is tough, but safety comes first. I'm with fat-ass-bike, driving is a privilege, not a right.

The party is over for inconsistent parking enforcement - everyone will need to brush up on the parking laws.

Now that the JCPD is in control of the parking enforcement with their own branch, I couldn't be more happier ... The parking officers will be trained correctly and be required to issue fines for ALL offences they have authority over.

Driving a car is a privilege NOT a right.

They're probably stepping up to balance the loss of the red light tickets.

Get ready for Hoboken type behavior once Park Authority is completely merged with Department of Public Safety. 24 hour parking enforcement is on the way. Prepared to be ticket all day every day.

I think there's ridiculously uneven enforcement. I got a corner ticket like yours in the Heights couple of months ago, not even close to the corner but past the sign. Was only there a couple of hours in the evening, ticket said 9:30 if I recall, and I looked at all the other infracting cars nearby and no one was ticketed. My car is NJ plated. The thing is, around there at night it appears all rules are off, EVERYONE parks at corners and in bus stops overnight.

been parking in JC for a long while now, up until 2 weeks ago never received a parking ticket and my parking behavior hasn't changed (nor has anyone else's that i can tell at least), but in the last 2 weeks I've received 2 tickets for 2 different things - one was parking in a "no standing" zone which i've parked in hundreds of times and never even knew it was a "no standing" spot, and the other was parking less than 25 away from a crosswalk. i wasn't even really near the crosswalk, yes probably was 25 feet from it though, but didn't realize that was a thing (nor did literally anyone else in JC since.. uh.. sometimes people park IN the crosswalk).

anyway, just seemed peculiar to me so i was wondering if anyone else is noticing this too and maybe something's up with parking authority, or maybe i've just been getting lucky all of these years avoiding tickets.
